耶穌注意看被請的人怎樣揀着首位，就對他們講一個比喻說：『你被人請去赴婚筵，不要坐在首位上。恐怕有比你尊貴的被他請來；那請你也請他的會來對你說：「請把位子讓給這一位吧」；那時你就會羞慚慚地去取末位了。不，你被請的時候、要去坐末位；這樣，那請你的人來的時候、好對你說：「朋友，請上頭坐吧」。那時你在一同坐席的眾人面前就有光榮了。因為凡自高的必被降卑；自己謙卑的必被升高。』

你們年輕的、照樣要順服年長的。你們眾人、彼此相待、都要以謙卑為裝束；因為上帝敵擋狂傲的，賜恩給謙卑的人。

我告訴你們，這個人下去、到他家裏，比那人倒算為無罪了。因為凡自高的必被降卑，自己謙卑的必被升高。』

心靈謙卑、跟貧困人在一道，勝過將擄物跟驕傲人同分。

這些事以後我觀看，見有個門在天上開着；我所聽見初次發出的聲音、像號筒和我說話的、就說：『你上這裏來，我要將此後必須發生的事指示你。』
