You may sing songs to a troubled heart. But that’s like taking a coat away on a cold day. It’s like pouring vinegar on a wound.

Whoever sings songs to a heavy heart is like one who takes off a garment on a cold day, and like vinegar on soda.

Singing cheerful songs to a person with a heavy heart is like taking someone’s coat in cold weather or pouring vinegar in a wound.

for there our captors ask us to compose songs; those who mock us demand that we be happy, saying:“ Sing for us a song about Zion!”How can we sing a song to the LORD in a foreign land?

And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick and the Lord will raise him up– and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Like vinegar to the teeth and like smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
