So then, we must not sleep, like the rest, but we must stay awake and be serious.For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.But since we belong to the day, we must be serious and put the armor of faith and love on our chests, and put on a helmet of the hope of salvation.

Don’t give sleep to your eyes or slumber to your eyelids.Escape like a gazelle from a hunter, like a bird from a fowler’s trap.Go to the ant, you slacker! Observe its ways and become wise.Without leader, administrator, or ruler,it prepares its provisions in summer; it gathers its food during harvest.How long will you stay in bed, you slacker? When will you get up from your sleep?A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the arms to rest,and your poverty will come like a robber, your need, like a bandit.

Besides this, knowing the time, it is already the hour for you to wake up from sleep, for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

for what makes everything clear is light. Therefore it is said: Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead, and the Messiah will shine on you.
