Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity,idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions,envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar. I am warning you about these things— as I warned you before— that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Or do you think it’s without reason that the Scripture says: The spirit he made to dwell in us envies intensely?But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

For I envied the arrogant; I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

Don’t be agitated by evildoers, and don’t envy the wicked.

The two angels entered Sodom in the evening as Lot was sitting in Sodom’s gateway. When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them. He bowed with his face to the groundand said,“ My lords, turn aside to your servant’s house, wash your feet, and spend the night. Then you can get up early and go on your way.”“ No,” they said.“ We would rather spend the night in the square.”But he urged them so strongly that they followed him and went into his house. He prepared a feast and baked unleavened bread for them, and they ate.Before they went to bed, the men of the city of Sodom, both young and old, the whole population, surrounded the house.They called out to Lot and said,“ Where are the men who came to you tonight? Send them out to us so we can have sex with them!”Lot went out to them at the entrance and shut the door behind him.He said,“ Don’t do this evil, my brothers.Look, I’ve got two daughters who haven’t been intimate with a man. I’ll bring them out to you, and you can do whatever you want to them. However, don’t do anything to these men, because they have come under the protection of my roof.”“ Get out of the way!” they said, adding,“ This one came here as an alien, but he’s acting like a judge! Now we’ll do more harm to you than to them.” They put pressure on Lot and came up to break down the door.But the angels reached out, brought Lot into the house with them, and shut the door.They struck the men who were at the entrance of the house, both young and old, with blindness so that they were unable to find the entrance.

Lot looked out and saw that the entire plain of the Jordan as far as Zoar was well watered everywhere like the LORD’s garden and the land of Egypt.( This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)So Lot chose the entire plain of the Jordan for himself. Then Lot journeyed eastward, and they separated from each other.Abram lived in the land of Canaan, but Lot lived in the cities on the plain and set up his tent near Sodom.( Now the men of Sodom were evil, sinning immensely against the LORD.)

The one who walks with the wise will become wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm.

Do not destroy me along with sinners, or my life along with men of bloodshed

If they say—“ Come with us! Let’s set an ambush and kill someone. Let’s attack some innocent person just for fun!Let’s swallow them alive, like Sheol, whole, like those who go down to the Pit.We’ll find all kinds of valuable property and fill our houses with plunder.Throw in your lot with us, and we’ll all share the loot”—my son, don’t travel that road with them or set foot on their path,
