爾豈可為轉瞬即無之貨財勤勞乎、貨財速去、如空中飛鷹、似乎有翼、或作爾豈可注目於貨財乎貨財速歸無有似乎有翼如空中飛鷹

Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.

When you take even a quick look at riches, they are gone. They grow wings and fly away into the sky like an eagle.

When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven.

“ Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you!Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.

“ Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher,“ All is vanity.”

and a messenger came to Job and said,“ The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them,when the Sabeans raided them and took them away— indeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”While he was still speaking, another also came and said,“ The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”While he was still speaking, another also came and said,“ The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

There is a severe evil which I have seen under the sun: Riches kept for their owner to his hurt.But those riches perish through misfortune; When he begets a son, there is nothing in his hand.

And Jacob their father said to them,“ You have bereaved me: Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin. All these things are against me.”

Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them.

But this I say, brethren, the time is short, so that from now on even those who have wives should be as though they had none,those who weep as though they did not weep, those who rejoice as though they did not rejoice, those who buy as though they did not possess,and those who use this world as not misusing it. For the form of this world is passing away.

Incline my heart to Your testimonies, And not to covetousness.Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, And revive me in Your way.

“ Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your covetousness, For shedding innocent blood, And practicing oppression and violence.”

“ Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher;“ Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”

Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.
