Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.

When you take even a quick look at riches, they are gone. They grow wings and fly away into the sky like an eagle.

When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven.

In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle.

When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly makes itself wings Like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.

Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.

資財既不能永有，財富哪能代代保存？

現今世富足的人呢、你要囑咐他們別存着高傲的心，不要把盼望釘住於財富之無定上，卻要釘住於那將萬物豐豐富富供給我們享受、的上帝；

因為世界上的事物、肉體的私慾、眼目的私慾、和人生的矜誇、都不是出於父，而是出於世界。

『別為自己積儹財寶在地上了；地上有蟲子和鏽能弄壞，地上有賊能挖窟窿來偷。

來，如今請注意！富足的人哪，應當因你們的慘難、那將要臨到的慘難、來哭泣號咷。你們的財富朽壞了；你們的衣裳給蟲子蛀了；

傳道人說：虛空之虛空；萬事都虛空。

忽有一個報信的來見約伯說：『牛正在犂田，母驢正在旁邊喫草；示巴人猛然來攻，把牲畜擄了去，並用刀擊殺了僮僕；只有我一人逃脫、來向你報告。』這個人還在說話的時候、又有一人來了；他說：『有猛烈的閃電像神火從天上降下，燒燬了羣羊和僮僕，把他們都滅盡了；只有我一人逃脫、來向你報告。』這個人還在說話的時候、又有一人來了；他說：『迦勒底人分作三隊、突然衝擊駱駝，把駱駝擄了去，並用刀擊殺了僮僕；只有我一人逃脫、來向你報告。』

我看日光之下有一宗大禍患：就是財富積守着、反而害到財主；因事業之不景氣，財富都失掉；人生了兒子，手裏卻一無所有。

他們的父親雅各對他們說：『你們逕使我喪失兒子；約瑟沒有了，西緬也沒有了，你們又要將便雅憫帶走：這些事都落到我身上來了。』

人走來走去、簡直是影兒；悲哀歎息不過是虛幻；他積聚着財寶，不知誰來收取。

這一點、弟兄們、我卻要說：時期縮短了。今後有妻子的、要像沒有一樣；哭泣的要像不哭泣；喜樂的要像不喜樂；置買的要像沒擁有甚麼；享用世界的、要像不一味享用。因為這世界的形態正在過去。

求你使我的心傾向於你的法度，不傾向於不義之財。求你使我轉眼、不看虛謊；使我在你的話語上活過來。

但你的眼你的心卻不顧別的，只顧你的不義之財，逕流無辜人之血，直行欺壓人壓制人的事。

傳道人說：虛空之虛空！虛空之虛空！萬事都虛空！

你們為甚麼花錢去買那不是食物的？為甚麼用你們勞碌得來的去買那不能使人飽足的呢？你們要注意聽我，就得以喫美物，心中以肥甘為樂趣。
