你必说：“人打我，我却未受伤；人鞭打我，我竟不觉得。我几时清醒，我仍去寻酒。”

说：“人击打我，但我未受伤，重击我，我不觉得。我几时清醒，还要再去寻酒。”

你会说：“人打我，我不痛；人揍我，我不知。什么时候醒了，再干一杯！”

你必说：“人打我，我不痛；人鞭打我，我不晓得；我什么时候清醒？我还要再去寻酒。”

“他们打我，我不疼痛；他们击打我，我也不知道。我什么时候醒来呢？我还要继续寻找酒。”

乃曰、擊我而我無傷、扑我而我不覺、何時而醒、仍復索飲、

勿自謂受擊而不傷、醉為無害、醒而再飲。

必使爾曰、人雖撻我、我不痛、人雖傷我、我不覺、我何時醒、仍復求酒、

“ They struck me, but I did not become ill; They beat me, but I did not know it. When will I awake? I will seek another drink.”

“ They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?”

They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not hurt; They have beaten me, and I felt it not: When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

他們說：「來吧，我去拿酒，讓我們痛飲烈酒！明天必像今天一樣，甚至會更好！」

愚昧人重複自己的愚妄，如同狗轉回來吃自己所吐的。

就算用杵將愚妄人與麥子一同搗碎在石臼中，他的愚妄還是不會離開他。

他們麻木不仁，任憑自己好色，以致貪婪地行出各樣汙穢的事。

我在以弗所與野獸搏鬥，如果按人的意思來說，對我有什麼好處呢？如果死人不會復活，就「讓我們吃吃喝喝吧，因為明天我們就要死了。」你們不要被迷惑了！「結交惡友，敗壞善德。」你們應當醒悟過來，不繼續犯罪；實際上，有些人不認識神。我說這話，是為了使你們羞愧。

看哪！你們卻歡喜快樂，殺牛宰羊，吃肉喝酒，說：「讓我們吃喝吧！因為明天我們就要死了。」

在他們身上正應驗了這真實的俗語：「狗轉身回到自己所吐的東西；豬洗乾淨了又到汙泥中打滾。」
