The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.

The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him.

The father of a godly child is very happy. A man who has a wise son is glad.

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

The father of a righteous son will rejoice greatly, and one who fathers a wise son will delight in him.

But because of our love, I prefer simply to ask you. Consider this as a request from me— Paul, an old man and now also a prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus.

And who can tell whether my successors will be wise or foolish? Yet they will control everything I have gained by my skill and hard work under the sun. How meaningless!

Yes, my brother, please do me this favor for the Lord’s sake. Give me this encouragement in Christ.

As the time of King David’s death approached, he gave this charge to his son Solomon:“ I am going where everyone on earth must someday go. Take courage and be a man.Observe the requirements of the Lord your God, and follow all his ways. Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go.
