The father of a godly child is very happy. A man who has a wise son is glad.

The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him.

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.

The father of a righteous son will rejoice greatly, and one who fathers a wise son will delight in him.

These are the proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes his father glad. But a foolish son brings sorrow to his mother.

My son, if your heart is wise, my heart will be very glad.Deep down inside, I will be happy when you say what is right.

A man who loves wisdom makes his father glad. But a man who spends time with prostitutes wastes his father’s wealth.

But now I want you to think of him as guilty. You are wise. You will know what to do to him. Don’t let him live to become an old man. Put him to death.”

But we love each other. And I would rather appeal to you on the basis of that love. I, Paul, am an old man. I am now also a prisoner because of Christ Jesus.

He said,‘ I praise the Lord. He is the God of Israel. He has let me live to see my son sitting on my throne today as the next king.’ ”

And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish? Either way, they’ll take over everything on earth I’ve worked so hard for. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

My brother, we both belong to the Lord. So I wish I could receive some benefit from you. Renew my heart. We know that Christ is the one who really renews it.

The time came near for David to die. So he gave orders to his son Solomon.He said,“ I’m about to die, just as everyone else on earth does. So be strong. Show how brave you are.Do everything the Lord your God requires. Live the way he wants you to. Obey his orders and commands. Keep his laws and rules. Do everything written in the Law of Moses. Then you will have success in everything you do. You will succeed everywhere you go.
