智者先機以避害、愚者前往而遭刑。

明哲人見害則避、愚拙人冒往遭刑、

The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.

Wise people see danger and go to a safe place. But childish people keep going and suffer for it.

The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.

A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

A sensible person sees danger and takes cover, but the inexperienced keep going and are punished.

A prudent person sees evil and hides himself, But the naive proceed, and pay the penalty.

A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, But the simple pass on and are punished.

A prudent man seeth the evil, and hideth himself; But the simple pass on, and suffer for it.

A sensible person sees danger and takes cover, but the inexperienced keep going and are punished.

智慧人有所畏懼，遠離惡事；愚昧人魯莽易怒，無所懼怕。

聰明人看見惡事會躲藏；無知的人前去自招懲罰。

屢次受責，仍然硬著頸項的人，頃刻之間就會被摧毀，無法挽回。

因為你們自己明確地知道，主的日子來臨，就像夜裡的賊來臨那樣。當人們正說「和平」、「安全」的時候，毀滅那時就突然臨到他們，就像孕婦的臨產陣痛那樣，他們絕不能逃脫。不過弟兄們，你們不是在黑暗裡，以致那日子像賊一樣抓住你們。因為你們都是光明的兒女，白晝的兒女。我們不屬於黑夜，也不屬於黑暗。由此可見，我們不要像其他人那樣睡著了，而要警醒、謹慎。

我看到在無知的人中，發現在年輕人中間，有一個缺乏心智的少年人，

因著信，挪亞在那還看不見的事上得了神的指示，就動了敬畏的心，建造了一隻方舟，以至於他的家人獲救。藉著信，他定了世界的罪，自己也繼承了從信而來的義。

我的民哪，去吧！進入你的內室，關上身後的門，短暫地躲藏一會兒，等到耶和華的憤怒過去！看哪！耶和華就要從自己的地方出來，懲罰地上居民的罪孽；地必顯露其中的血，不再遮蓋被殺的人。

「當你們看見藉著先知但以理所說的『那帶來毀滅的褻瀆者』站在聖地的時候——讀者應當思考——那時，在猶太的人應當逃到山裡；在屋頂上的人，不要下來拿屋子裡的東西；在田裡的人，不要返回去拿自己的衣服。

她說：「誰是無知的人呢？讓他轉到我這裡來！」又對那缺乏心智的人說：「偷來的水是甜的，暗中吃的餅是香的！」但那人不知道：陰魂就在那裡；被她呼喚去的，都在陰間的深處。

藉著這兩件不能更改的事——在這些事上，神不可能說謊——使我們這些逃往避難所、抓住那擺在前面盼望的人，可以得到極大的鼓勵。

他立刻跟隨那女人，如同公牛走向屠場，如同愚妄人戴著腳鐐去受懲罰；直到箭射穿他的肝臟——他就像雀鳥快速進入網羅，他卻不明白，這會賠上自己的性命。
