One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace will have the king for a friend.

A person who has a pure and loving heart and speaks kindly will be a friend of the king.

He who loves purity of heart, and whose speech is gracious, will have the king as his friend.

Whoever loves a pure heart and gracious speech will have the king as a friend.

The one who loves a pure heart and gracious lips— the king is his friend.

Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego in the province of Babylon.

Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face, prostrate before Daniel, and commanded that they should present an offering and incense to him.The king answered Daniel, and said,“ Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, since you could reveal this secret.”Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts; and he made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief administrator over all the wise men of Babylon.Also Daniel petitioned the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego over the affairs of the province of Babylon; but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

For Mordecai the Jew was second to King Ahasuerus, and was great among the Jews and well received by the multitude of his brethren, seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all his countrymen.

And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel,“ Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”Then Daniel said to the king,“ O king, live forever!My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.”Now the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God.

You are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever.

So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said,“ Is this not Joseph’s son?”

this Ezra came up from Babylon; and he was a skilled scribe in the Law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given. The king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.Some of the children of Israel, the priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.And Ezra came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.On the first day of the first month he began his journey from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.This is a copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave Ezra the priest, the scribe, expert in the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of His statutes to Israel:

Then Pharaoh said to Joseph,“ Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you.You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.”And Pharaoh said to Joseph,“ See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried out before him,“ Bow the knee!” So he set him over all the land of Egypt.Pharaoh also said to Joseph,“ I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-Paaneah. And he gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On. So Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.Now in the seven plentiful years the ground brought forth abundantly.So he gathered up all the food of the seven years which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities; he laid up in every city the food of the fields which surrounded them.Joseph gathered very much grain, as the sand of the sea, until he stopped counting, for it was immeasurable.And to Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, whom Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On, bore to him.Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh:“ For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father’s house.”And the name of the second he called Ephraim:“ For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.”Then the seven years of plenty which were in the land of Egypt ended,and the seven years of famine began to come, as Joseph had said. The famine was in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.So when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. Then Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians,“ Go to Joseph; whatever he says to you, do.”The famine was over all the face of the earth, and Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians. And the famine became severe in the land of Egypt.So all countries came to Joseph in Egypt to buy grain, because the famine was severe in all lands.

Then the king said to me,“ What do you request?” So I prayed to the God of heaven.And I said to the king,“ If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may rebuild it.”Then the king said to me( the queen also sitting beside him),“ How long will your journey be? And when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
