A wicked person shows boldness with his face, but as for the upright, he discerns his ways.

恶人脸无羞耻；正直人行事坚定。

邪惡的人，虛張聲勢；正直的人，謹慎行事。

惡者厚其顏、正人定其行、

惡者剛愎厥心、善者慎思所行。

惡人無廉恥、正直者謹慎所行、

The wicked put up a bold front, but the upright give thought to their ways.

Sinful people try to look as if they were bold. But honest people think about how they live.

A wicked man puts on a bold face, but the upright gives thought to his ways.

The wicked bluff their way through, but the virtuous think before they act.

A wicked person puts on a bold face, but the upright one considers his way.

A wicked person displays a bold face, But as for the upright, he makes his way sure.

A wicked man hardens his face, But as for the upright, he establishes his way.

A wicked man hardeneth his face; But as for the upright, he establisheth his ways.

A wicked man puts on a bold face, but the upright man considers his way.

The righteousness of the blameless will make straight their way, but the wicked person will fall by his own wickedness.

Now therefore reflect carefully on the recent past, before one stone was laid on another in the LORD’s temple.

Because he considered and turned from all the sins he had done, he will surely live; he will not die.

Here then is what the LORD who rules over all says:‘ Think carefully about what you are doing.

Blessed is the one who is always cautious, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into evil.

The one who stiffens his neck after numerous rebukes will suddenly be destroyed without remedy.

Now may God our Father himself and our Lord Jesus direct our way to you.

“ Look up at the hilltops and consider this. You have had sex with other gods on every one of them. You waited for those gods like a thief lying in wait in the desert. You defiled the land by your wicked prostitution to other gods.That is why the rains have been withheld, and the spring rains have not come. Yet in spite of this you are obstinate as a prostitute. You refuse to be ashamed of what you have done.

I consider my actions and follow your rules.

Are they ashamed because they have done such disgusting things? No, they are not at all ashamed! They do not even know how to blush! So they will die just like others have died. They will be brought to ruin when I punish them, says the LORD.

“ Moreover, the LORD who rules over all says:‘ Pay close attention to these things also.

“ We will not listen to what you claim the LORD has spoken to us!Instead we will do everything we vowed we would do. We will sacrifice and pour out drink offerings to the goddess called the Queen of Heaven just as we and our ancestors, our kings, and our leaders previously did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, were well-off, and had no troubles.

But when he came to his senses he said,‘ How many of my father’s hired workers have food enough to spare, but here I am dying from hunger!I will get up and go to my father and say to him,“ Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.

If only I were predisposed to keep your statutes!

‘ Think carefully about the past: from today, the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, to the day work on the temple of the LORD was resumed, think about it.The seed is still in the storehouse, isn’t it? And the vine, fig tree, pomegranate, and olive tree have not produced. Nevertheless, from today on I will bless you.’”

LORD, I know you look for faithfulness. But even when you punish these people, they feel no remorse. Even when you nearly destroy them, they refuse to be corrected. They have become as hardheaded as a rock. They refuse to change their ways.
