維彼智慧、必援爾於淫婦、即諂言之外婦、

Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words,

Wisdom will save you from a woman who commits adultery. It will save you from a sinful woman and her tempting words.

So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words,

Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, from the seductive words of the promiscuous woman.

It will rescue you from a forbidden woman, from a wayward woman with her flattering talk,

To deliver you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words,

To deliver thee from the strange woman, Even from the foreigner that flattereth with her words;

It will rescue you from a forbidden woman, from a stranger with her flattering talk,

To deliver thee from the strange woman,[ even] from the stranger[ which] flattereth with her words;

to deliver you from the adulteress, from the sexually loose woman who speaks flattering words;

to deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words,

To keep you from the evil woman, From the smooth tongue of the foreign woman.

And I discovered as more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God will escape from her, but the sinner will be captured by her.

For a prostitute is a deep pit, And a strange woman is a narrow well.

So that they may keep you from an adulteress, From the foreigner who flatters with her words.For at the window of my house I looked out through my lattice,And I saw among the naive, And discerned among the youths A young man lacking sense,Passing through the street near her corner; And he walks along the way to her house,In the twilight, in the evening, In the middle of the night and the darkness.And behold, a woman comes to meet him, Dressed as a prostitute and cunning of heart.She is boisterous and rebellious, Her feet do not remain at home;She is now in the streets, now in the public squares, And lurks by every corner.So she seizes him and kisses him, And with a brazen face she says to him:“ I was due to offer peace offerings; Today I have paid my vows.Therefore I have come out to meet you, To seek your presence diligently, and I have found you.I have spread my couch with coverings, With colored linens of Egypt.I have sprinkled my bed With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.Come, let’s drink our fill of love until morning; Let’s delight ourselves with caresses.For my husband is not at home; He has gone on a long journey.He has taken a bag of money with him. At the full moon he will come home.”With her many persuasions she entices him; With her flattering lips she seduces him.Suddenly he follows her As an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as one walks in ankle bracelets to the discipline of a fool,Until an arrow pierces through his liver; As a bird hurries to the snare, So he does not know that it will cost him his life.

Now his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all that he did prosper in his hand.So Joseph found favor in his sight and became his personal servant; and he made him overseer over his house, and put him in charge of all that he owned.It came about that from the time he made him overseer in his house and over all that he owned, the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house on account of Joseph; so the Lord’s blessing was upon all that he owned, in the house and in the field.So he left Joseph in charge of everything that he owned; and with him there he did not concern himself with anything except the food which he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.And it came about after these events that his master’s wife had her eyes on Joseph, and she said,“ Sleep with me.”But he refused and said to his master’s wife,“ Look, with me here, my master does not concern himself with anything in the house, and he has put me in charge of all that he owns.There is no one greater in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil, and sin against God?”Though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he did not listen to her to lie beside her or be with her.Now it happened one day that he went into the house to do his work, and none of the people of the household was there inside.So she grabbed him by his garment, saying,“ Sleep with me!” But he left his garment in her hand and fled, and went outside.

The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; He who is cursed of the Lord will fall into it.

For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, And her speech is smoother than oil;But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two edged sword.Her feet go down to death, Her steps take hold of Sheol.She does not ponder the path of life; Her ways are unstable, she does not know it.Now then, my sons, listen to me And do not turn away from the words of my mouth.Keep your way far from her, And do not go near the door of her house,Otherwise you will give your vigor to others, And your years to the cruel one;And strangers will be filled with your strength, And your hard earned possessions will go to the house of a foreigner;And you will groan in the end, When your flesh and your body are consumed;And you say,“ How I hated instruction! And my heart disdainfully rejected rebuke!I did not listen to the voice of my teachers, Nor incline my ear to my instructors!I was almost in total ruin In the midst of the assembly and congregation.”Drink water from your own cistern, And fresh water from your own well.Should your springs overflow into the street, Streams of water in the public squares?Let them be yours alone, And not for strangers with you.Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice in the wife of your youth.Like a loving doe and a graceful mountain goat, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be exhilarated always with her love.For why should you, my son, be exhilarated with an adulteress, And embrace the breasts of a foreigner?

A man who flatters his neighbor Is spreading a net for his steps.

Did Solomon the king of Israel not sin regarding these things? Yet among the many nations there was no king like him, and he was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel; yet the foreign women caused even him to sin.Has it not then been reported about you that you have committed all this great evil by acting unfaithfully against our God, by marrying foreign women?”
