The poor are shunned by all their relatives— how much more do their friends avoid them! Though the poor pursue them with pleading, they are nowhere to be found.

Poor people are avoided by their whole family. Their friends avoid them even more. The poor person runs after his friends to beg for help. But they can’t be found.

但如果有人擁有世界的財產，看見自己的弟兄有需要，卻封閉情感，那麼，屬神的愛怎麼能住在他裡面呢？孩子們哪，讓我們不在語言或口頭上相愛，而在行為和真理中相愛，

窮人苦苦哀求，富人凶狠回應。

如果有弟兄或姐妹衣不蔽體，又缺乏日用的食物，而你們當中有人對他們說：「平平安安地去吧！願你們穿得暖、吃得飽！」，卻不給他們身體所需要的，這有什麼好處呢？

但你們卻侮辱了這貧窮人！那欺壓你們、把你們拉上法庭的，難道不是那些富有的人嗎？

城中有一個貧寒的智慧人，他用智慧救了那城；然而沒有人記念那個貧寒人。我就說：「智慧勝過武力」，但那個貧寒人的智慧被人輕視，他的話語也沒有人再聽從。

你使我所愛的人和朋友遠離我，我的同伴只有黑暗。

他就呼喊說：「耶穌啊，大衛的後裔，可憐我吧！」走在前頭的人就責備他，要他安靜。可是，他卻更加大聲呼叫：「大衛的後裔，可憐我吧！」耶穌就停住，吩咐把他帶到他面前來；那人走近了，耶穌就問他：

窮人甚至被他的鄰人所恨惡；富人卻有許多喜愛他的人。

你使認識我的人遠離我，使我成為他們所憎惡的；我被囚禁，不能出來。
