The poor are shunned by all their relatives— how much more do their friends avoid them! Though the poor pursue them with pleading, they are nowhere to be found.

如果一个丰衣足食的人看见贫穷的弟兄姊妹，却毫无怜悯之心，怎能说他爱上帝呢？所以，孩子们啊，不要单在口头上说爱人，总要以真诚的行动表现出来。

穷人哀声恳求，富人恶言相向。

如果有弟兄姊妹缺衣少食，你们只是对他们说：“安心走吧，愿你们穿得暖，吃得饱”，却不帮助他解决实际困难，这有什么用呢？

你们反倒侮辱穷人。其实欺压你们、抓你们上法庭的不是那些富人吗？

这城里有一个贫穷的智者，他用智慧拯救了这城，但事后人们却把他遗忘了。我认为智慧胜过武力，然而那位穷人的智慧却被轻视，他所说的话也无人理会。

你使我的亲朋好友离我而去，只有黑暗与我相伴。

他就高声呼喊：“大卫的后裔耶稣啊，可怜我吧！”走在前面的人责备他，让他安静，但他反而叫得更大声：“大卫的后裔啊，可怜我吧！”耶稣停下脚步，命人把他带过来，然后问他：

穷人遭邻舍厌，富人朋友众多。

你使我众叛亲离，遭人唾弃。我陷入困境，无路可逃。
