愚妄人所行的，在自己眼中看为正直；惟智慧人从善如流。

我儿啊，要听你父亲的训诲，不可离弃你母亲的教诲；

“有一个财主穿着紫色袍和细麻布衣服，天天奢华宴乐。又有一个讨饭的，名叫拉撒路，浑身长疮，被人放在财主门口，想得财主桌子上掉下来的碎食充饥，甚至还有狗来舔他的疮。后来那讨饭的死了，被天使带去放在亚伯拉罕的怀里。财主也死了，并且埋葬了。他在阴间受苦，举目远远地望见亚伯拉罕，又望见拉撒路在他怀里，

听从我，天天在我门口守望，在我门框旁等候的，那人有福了。因为寻得我的，就寻得生命，他必蒙耶和华的恩惠。

我儿啊，你若领受我的言语，珍藏我的命令，留心听智慧，专心求聪明；你若呼求明理，扬声求聪明，寻找她，如寻找银子，搜寻她，如搜寻宝藏，你就懂得敬畏耶和华，得以认识上帝。因为耶和华赏赐智慧，知识和聪明都由他口而出。他为正直人珍藏健全的知识，给行为纯正的人作盾牌，为要保护公正的路，庇护虔诚人的道。那时，你就明白公义、公平、正直，和一切完善的道路。

孩子们，要听父亲的训诲，留心明白道理。

求你指教我们怎样数算自己的日子，好叫我们得着智慧的心。

谁能数点雅各的尘土？谁能计算以色列的尘沙？我愿如正直人之死而死；我愿如正直人之终而终。”

求你使我们早早饱得你的慈爱，好叫我们一生一世欢呼喜乐。

又在旷野将你列祖所不认识的吗哪赐给你吃，为要磨炼你，考验你，终久使你享福。

你要细察那完全人，观看那正直人，因为和平的人有好结局。

惟愿他们有智慧，能明白这事，他们就会想到自己的结局。
