It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish,but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison.Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God.

The mouth of the godly person gives wise advice, but the tongue that deceives will be cut off.

Wise words will win you a good meal, but treacherous people have an appetite for violence.Those who control their tongue will have a long life; opening your mouth can ruin everything.

Wise words are like deep waters; wisdom flows from the wise like a bubbling brook.It is not right to acquit the guilty or deny justice to the innocent.Fools’ words get them into constant quarrels; they are asking for a beating.The mouths of fools are their ruin; they trap themselves with their lips.

Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words.Fools base their thoughts on foolish assumptions, so their conclusions will be wicked madness;they chatter on and on. No one really knows what is going to happen; no one can predict the future.

The wicked are trapped by their own words, but the godly escape such trouble.

The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life; a wise person wins friends.

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say,“ How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception.

So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve.

For there are many rebellious people who engage in useless talk and deceive others. This is especially true of those who insist on circumcision for salvation.They must be silenced, because they are turning whole families away from the truth by their false teaching. And they do it only for money.

To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?
