Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.

If a person’s heart is proud, they will be destroyed. So don’t be proud if you want to be honored.

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for“ God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Will you still say,‘ I am a god,’ in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a man, and no god, in the hands of those who slay you?

At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word and understand the vision.

And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.Then came to him all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before, and ate bread with him in his house. And they showed him sympathy and comforted him for all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him. And each of them gave him a piece of money and a ring of gold.And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning. And he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.He had also seven sons and three daughters.And he called the name of the first daughter Jemimah, and the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-happuch.And in all the land there were no women so beautiful as Job’s daughters. And their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.And after this Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, four generations.And Job died, an old man, and full of days.

And I said:“ Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar.And he touched my mouth and said:“ Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”And I heard the voice of the Lord saying,“ Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said,“ Here I am! Send me.”And he said,“ Go, and say to this people:“‘ Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”Then I said,“ How long, O Lord?” And he said:“ Until cities lie waste without inhabitant, and houses without people, and the land is a desolate waste,and the Lord removes people far away, and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.And though a tenth remain in it, it will be burned again, like a terebinth or an oak, whose stump remains when it is felled.” The holy seed is its stump.
