The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even- tempered.

Anyone who has knowledge controls their words. Anyone who has understanding is not easily upset.

Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.

A truly wise person uses few words; a person with understanding is even tempered.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips[ is] wise.

[ He that is] slow to wrath[ is] of great understanding: but[ he that is] hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same[ is] a perfect man,[ and] able also to bridle the whole body.
