A fool spurns a parent’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.

Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

“ As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.

Now, my son, may the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you.Only may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord charged Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed.

This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold Is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.

For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

After this it happened that Absalom provided himself with chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.Now Absalom would rise early and stand beside the way to the gate. So it was, whenever anyone who had a lawsuit came to the king for a decision, that Absalom would call to him and say,“ What city are you from?” And he would say,“ Your servant is from such and such a tribe of Israel.”Then Absalom would say to him,“ Look, your case is good and right; but there is no deputy of the king to hear you.”Moreover Absalom would say,“ Oh, that I were made judge in the land, and everyone who has any suit or cause would come to me; then I would give him justice.”And so it was, whenever anyone came near to bow down to him, that he would put out his hand and take him and kiss him.In this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

So he said to them,“ Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all the people.No, my sons! For it is not a good report that I hear. You make the LORD’s people transgress.If one man sins against another, God will judge him. But if a man sins against the Lord, who will intercede for him?” Nevertheless they did not heed the voice of their father, because the Lord desired to kill them.

Let the righteous strike me; It shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; It shall be as excellent oil; Let my head not refuse it. For still my prayer is against the deeds of the wicked.

The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a glad father, But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.

Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.

And David said to his son Solomon,“ Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God— my God— will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.
