A fool spurns a parent’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.

A foolish person turns their back on their parent’s correction. But anyone who accepts correction shows understanding.

A fool despises his father’s instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent.

Only a fool despises a parent’s discipline; whoever learns from correction is wise.

Listen to advice and accept discipline, So that you may be wise the rest of your days.

A wise son accepts his father’s discipline, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

These things speak and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. No one is to disregard you.

“ As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.

Now, my son, the Lord be with you that you may be successful, and build the house of the Lord your God just as He has spoken concerning you.Only the Lord give you discretion and understanding, and put you in charge of Israel, so that you may keep the Law of the Lord your God.Then you will prosper, if you are careful to follow the statutes and the ordinances which the Lord commanded Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and courageous, do not fear nor be dismayed.

This testimony is true. For this reason reprimand them severely so that they may be sound in the faith,

Like an earring of gold and a jewelry piece of fine gold, Is a wise person who offers rebukes to a listening ear.

For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching is light; And rebukes for discipline are the way of life

Now it came about after this that Absalom provided for himself a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run ahead of him.And Absalom used to rise early and stand beside the road to the gate; and when any man who had a lawsuit was to come before the king for judgment, Absalom would call out to him and say,“ From what city are you?” And he would say,“ Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel.”Then Absalom would say to him,“ See, your claims are good and right, but you have no one to listen to you on the part of the king.”Moreover, Absalom would say,“ Oh that someone would appoint me judge in the land, then every man who has a lawsuit or claim could come to me, and I would give him justice!”And whenever a man approached to prostrate himself before him, he would put out his hand and take hold of him and kiss him.Absalom dealt this way with all Israel who came to the king for judgment; so Absalom stole the hearts of the people of Israel.

So he said to them,“ Why are you doing such things as these, the evil things that I hear from all these people?No, my sons; for the report is not good which I hear the Lord’s people circulating.If one person sins against another, God will mediate for him; but if a person sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to the voice of their father, for the Lord desired to put them to death.

May the righteous strike me with mercy and discipline me; It is oil for the head; My head shall not refuse it, For my prayer is still against their evil deeds.

The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish son is a grief to his mother.

Turn to my rebuke, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.

Then David said to his son Solomon,“ Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.
