Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding.

Those who turn away from correction hate themselves. But anyone who accepts correction gains understanding.

If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

“ Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.

Folly is a joy to him who lacks sense, but a man of understanding walks straight ahead.

The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.

and they shall say to the elders of his city,‘ This our son is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’

and at the end of your life you groan, when your flesh and body are consumed,and you say,“ How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors.

An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

“ If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they discipline him, will not listen to them,

On account of your unclean lewdness, because I would have cleansed you and you were not cleansed from your uncleanness, you shall not be cleansed anymore till I have satisfied my fury upon you.I am the Lord. I have spoken; it shall come to pass; I will do it. I will not go back; I will not spare; I will not relent; according to your ways and your deeds you will be judged, declares the Lord God.”

Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors.For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord,but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.”

Why should a fool have money in his hand to buy wisdom when he has no sense?

For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you.

Why will you still be struck down? Why will you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

O Lord, do not your eyes look for truth? You have struck them down, but they felt no anguish; you have consumed them, but they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to repent.

See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no“ root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;
