A mocker seeks wisdom and never finds it, but knowledge comes easily to those with understanding.

The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.

Those who make fun of others look for wisdom and don’t find it. But knowledge comes easily to those who understand what is right.

A scoffer seeks wisdom in vain, but knowledge is easy for a man of understanding.

A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none, But knowledge is easy for one who has understanding.

A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it, But knowledge is easy to him who understands.

A scoffer seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; But knowledge is easy unto him that hath understanding.

He replied,“ You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not.To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.

At that time Jesus prayed this prayer:“ O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way!“ My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

My words are plain to anyone with understanding, clear to those with knowledge.

Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires.They will say,“ What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.”They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water.

Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say,“ He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.”

These wise teachers will fall into the trap of their own foolishness, for they have rejected the word of the Lord. Are they so wise after all?

Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.

Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions.

Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide.Yes, I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws.I am even wiser than my elders, for I have kept your commandments.

“ Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light.But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!

Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other.And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.

Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much.

But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded.Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in him. They stumbled over the great rock in their path.

There is more hope for fools than for people who think they are wise.

Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark.
