A king is pleased with a wise servant. But a servant who is full of shame stirs up the king’s anger.

智慧的臣子蒙王恩惠；贻羞的仆人遭其震怒。

君王的恩宠临到智慧的臣仆；但其愤怒临到蒙羞的臣仆。

君王的恩宠临到智慧的臣仆；但其愤怒临到蒙羞的臣仆。

明智的臣子蒙王喜悦，可耻的仆人惹王发怒。

明慧的臣仆，为王喜悦；贻羞的仆人，遭王震怒。

明达的臣仆，得王的恩典；带来羞耻的仆人，遭王的盛怒。

智慧的臣子蒙王恩惠；貽羞的僕人遭其震怒。

君王的恩寵臨到智慧的臣僕；但其憤怒臨到蒙羞的臣僕。

用智之臣蒙王恩、貽羞之僕遭王怒、

王恩寵施於良臣、震怒及乎頑僕。

哲臣蒙王之恩、愚僕遭主人之怒、

A king delights in a wise servant, but a shameful servant arouses his fury.

A servant who deals wisely has the king’s favor, but his wrath falls on one who acts shamefully.

A king rejoices in wise servants but is angry with those who disgrace him.

A king favors a prudent servant, but his anger falls on a disgraceful one.

The king’s favor is toward a servant who acts wisely, But his anger is toward him who acts shamefully.

The king’s favor is toward a wise servant, But his wrath is against him who causes shame.

The king’s favor is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; But his wrath will be against him that causeth shame.

A king favors a wise servant, but his anger falls on a disgraceful one.

“ Suppose a master puts one of his slaves in charge of the other slaves in his house. The slave’s job is to give them their food at the right time. The master wants a faithful and wise slave for this.It will be good for the slave if the master finds him doing his job when the master returns.What I’m about to tell you is true. The master will put that slave in charge of everything he owns.But suppose that slave is evil. Suppose he says to himself,‘ My master is staying away a long time.’Suppose he begins to beat the other slaves. And suppose he eats and drinks with those who drink too much.The master of that slave will come back on a day the slave doesn’t expect him. He will return at an hour the slave does not know.Then the master will cut him to pieces. He will send him to the place where pretenders go. There people will weep and grind their teeth.

A person who has a pure and loving heart and speaks kindly will be a friend of the king.

A king’s anger is like a lion’s roar. But his favor is like dew on the grass.A foolish child is a father’s ruin. A nagging wife is like dripping that never stops.

The Lord answered,“ Suppose a master puts one of his servants in charge of his other servants. The servant’s job is to give them the food they are to receive at the right time. The master wants a faithful and wise manager for this.It will be good for the servant if the master finds him doing his job when the master returns.What I’m about to tell you is true. The master will put that servant in charge of everything he owns.But suppose the servant says to himself,‘ My master is taking a long time to come back.’ Suppose that servant begins to beat the other servants, both men and women. Suppose he feeds himself. And suppose he drinks until he gets drunk.The master of that servant will come back on a day the servant doesn’t expect him. The master will return at an hour the servant doesn’t know. Then the master will cut him to pieces. He will send the servant to the place where unbelievers go.“ Suppose a servant knows the master’s wishes. But the servant doesn’t get ready and doesn’t do what the master wants. Then that servant will receive a heavy beating.But suppose the servant does not know his master’s wishes. And suppose the servant does things for which he should be punished. He will receive a lighter beating. Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. Even more will be asked of the person who is supposed to take care of much.

If rulers listen to lies, all their officials become evil.

Remove ungodly officials from where the king is. Then the king can make his throne secure because of the godliness around him.

“ His master replied,‘ You have done well, good and faithful slave! You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

A child who gathers crops in summer is wise. But a child who sleeps at harvest time brings shame.

A wise servant will rule over a shameful child. He will be given part of the property as if he were a family member.

Anyone who robs their father and drives out their mother is a child who brings shame and dishonor.

A wise king gets rid of evil people. He runs the threshing wheel over them.

“ His master replied,‘ You have done well, good and faithful slave! You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

I will stay away from those whose hearts are twisted. I won’t have anything to do with what is evil.I will get rid of anyone who tells lies about their neighbor in secret. I won’t put up with anyone whose eyes and heart are proud.I will look with favor on the faithful people in the land. They will live with me. Those whose lives are without blame will serve me.No one who lies and cheats will live in my house. No one who tells lies will serve me.Every morning I will get rid of all the sinful people in the land. I will remove from the city of the Lord everyone who does what is evil.

A king sits on his throne to judge. He gets rid of all evil when he sees it.
