A fool’s mouth lashes out with pride, but the lips of the wise protect them.

The proud words of a foolish person sting like a whip. But the things wise people say keep them safe.

For, while speaking out arrogant words of no value they entice by fleshly desires, by indecent behavior, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error,

You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, And you will not be afraid of violence when it comes.

Let the lying lips be speechless, Which speak arrogantly against the righteous With pride and contempt.

And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

One who sows injustice will reap disaster, And the rod of his fury will perish.

So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire!And the tongue is a fire, the very world of unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our body’s parts as that which defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.

Because you have kept My word of perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of the testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who live on the earth.
