He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who has pity on the poor is blessed.

藐視鄰舍的，這人有罪；憐憫貧窮的，這人有福。

侮慢友朋者則為有罪、愛憐貧乏者則為有福、

It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor, but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy.

It is a sin to hate your neighbor. But blessed is the person who is kind to those in need.

Whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to the poor.

It is a sin to belittle one’s neighbor; blessed are those who help the poor.

The one who despises his neighbor sins, but whoever shows kindness to the poor will be happy.

One who despises his neighbor sins, But one who is gracious to the poor is blessed.

He who despises his neighbor sins; But he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he.

He that despiseth his neighbor sinneth; But he that hath pity on the poor, happy is he.

He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.

For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, Neither has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried to him, he heard.

“ If I have despised the cause of my male servant or of my female servant, when they contended with me,what then will I do when God rises up? When he visits, what will I answer him?Didn’t he who made me in the womb make him? Didn’t one fashion us in the womb?

There is one who scatters, and increases yet more. There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty.The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.

Look to the skies, and see. See the skies, which are higher than you.If you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?

that you won’t be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and perseverance inherited the promises.

When wickedness comes, contempt also comes, and with shame comes disgrace.

In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.And by this we know that we are of the truth, and persuade our hearts before him,because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have boldness toward God;so whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.

Isn’t it to distribute your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?Then your light will break out as the morning, and your healing will appear quickly; then your righteousness shall go before you, and Yahweh’s glory will be your rear guard.Then you will call, and Yahweh will answer. You will cry for help, and he will say,‘ Here I am.’“ If you take away from among you the yoke, finger pointing, and speaking wickedly;and if you pour out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light will rise in darkness, and your obscurity will be as the noonday;and Yahweh will guide you continually, satisfy your soul in dry places, and make your bones strong. You will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters don’t fail.Those who will be of you will build the old waste places. You will raise up the foundations of many generations. You will be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Paths with Dwellings.

He has dispersed, he has given to the poor. His righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted with honor.

Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your tranquility.”

It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment.

What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him?And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food,and one of you tells them,“ Go in peace. Be warmed and filled;” yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it?

Cast your bread on the waters; for you shall find it after many days.Give a portion to seven, yes, even to eight; for you don’t know what evil will be on the earth.

Then the King will tell those on his right hand,‘ Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in.I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me.’“ Then the righteous will answer him, saying,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink?When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you?When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?’“ The King will answer them,‘ Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’Then he will say also to those on the left hand,‘ Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;for I was hungry, and you didn’t give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink;I was a stranger, and you didn’t take me in; naked, and you didn’t clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’“ Then they will also answer, saying,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and didn’t help you?’“ Then he will answer them, saying,‘ Most certainly I tell you, because you didn’t do it to one of the least of these, you didn’t do it to me.’These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Blessed is he who considers the poor. Yahweh will deliver him in the day of evil.Yahweh will preserve him, and keep him alive. He shall be blessed on the earth, and he will not surrender him to the will of his enemies.

Listen, my beloved brothers. Didn’t God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him?But you have dishonored the poor man. Don’t the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts?

Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again.“ As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them.If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive back as much.But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.“ Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful.

He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.
