Lord, you are my strength and fortress, my refuge in the day of trouble! Nations from around the world will come to you and say,“ Our ancestors left us a foolish heritage, for they worshiped worthless idols.

And now the prize awaits me— the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.

We will do whatever we want. We will burn incense and pour out liquid offerings to the Queen of Heaven just as much as we like— just as we, and our ancestors, and our kings and officials have always done in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For in those days we had plenty to eat, and we were well off and had no troubles!

The wise inherit honor, but fools are put to shame!

Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.If you prize wisdom, she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will honor you.She will place a lovely wreath on your head; she will present you with a beautiful crown.”

Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever.

“ What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you build tombs for the prophets your ancestors killed, and you decorate the monuments of the godly people your ancestors destroyed.Then you say,‘ If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would never have joined them in killing the prophets.’“ But in saying that, you testify against yourselves that you are indeed the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.Go ahead and finish what your ancestors started.

And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never ending glory and honor.
