Whoever disregards discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored.

Those who turn away from their training become poor and ashamed. But those who accept warnings are honored.

Everyone who goes out of them will be torn in pieces, Because their wrongdoings are many, Their apostasies are numerous.“ Why should I forgive you? Your sons have forsaken Me And sworn by those who are not gods. When I had fed them to the full, They committed adultery And stayed at the prostitute’s house.They were well fed lusty horses, Each one neighing at his neighbor’s wife.Shall I not punish them for these things?” declares the Lord,“ And shall I not avenge Myself On a nation such as this?

One who despises the word will do badly, But one who fears the commandment will be rewarded.

See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns us from heaven.

Many will seek the favor of a generous person, And every person is a friend to him who gives gifts.

Like an earring of gold and a jewelry piece of fine gold, Is a wise person who offers rebukes to a listening ear.

Otherwise you will give your vigor to others, And your years to the cruel one;And strangers will be filled with your strength, And your hard earned possessions will go to the house of a foreigner;And you will groan in the end, When your flesh and your body are consumed;And you say,“ How I hated instruction! And my heart disdainfully rejected rebuke!I did not listen to the voice of my teachers, Nor incline my ear to my instructors!I was almost in total ruin In the midst of the assembly and congregation.”

May the righteous strike me with mercy and discipline me; It is oil for the head; My head shall not refuse it, For my prayer is still against their evil deeds.
