Whoever scorns instruction will pay for it, but whoever respects a command is rewarded.

Anyone who hates what they are taught will pay for it later. But a person who respects a command will be rewarded.

Whoever despises the word brings destruction on himself, but he who reveres the commandment will be rewarded.

People who despise advice are asking for trouble; those who respect a command will succeed.

The one who has contempt for instruction will pay the penalty, but the one who respects a command will be rewarded.

One who despises the word will do badly, But one who fears the commandment will be rewarded.

He who despises the word will be destroyed, But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.

because they had not obeyed my laws but had rejected my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes lusted after their parents’ idols. (niv)

he will bless those who fear the Lord— small and great alike. (niv)

Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (niv)

Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’ (niv)

Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? “ We will not listen to the message you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord!We will certainly do everything we said we would: We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and will pour out drink offerings to her just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food and were well off and suffered no harm. (niv)
