蔑鄰者無知、通達者緘口、

愚者暴人之短、智者隱人之惡。

無知者侮慢同人、明哲人緘默不言、

Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense, but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.

Whoever makes fun of their neighbor has no sense. But the one who has understanding controls their tongue.

Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.

It is foolish to belittle one’s neighbor; a sensible person keeps quiet.

Whoever shows contempt for his neighbor lacks sense, but a person with understanding keeps silent.

One who despises his neighbor lacks sense, But a person of understanding keeps silent.

He that despiseth his neighbor is void of wisdom; But a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.

Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with contempt.Our soul is exceedingly filled With the scorn of those who are at ease, With the contempt of the proud.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.

Then Zebul said to him,“ Where indeed is your mouth now, with which you said,‘ Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him?’ Are not these the people whom you despised? Go out, if you will, and fight with them now.”

But some rebels said,“ How can this man save us?” So they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.

He who despises his neighbor sins; But he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he.

And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said,“ What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish— stones that are burned?”Now Tobiah the Ammonite was beside him, and he said,“ Whatever they build, if even a fox goes up on it, he will break down their stone wall.”Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their reproach on their own heads, and give them as plunder to a land of captivity!

But the people held their peace and answered him not a word; for the king’s commandment was,“ Do not answer him.”

So they went out into the fields, and gathered grapes from their vineyards and trod them, and made merry. And they went into the house of their god, and ate and drank, and cursed Abimelech.Then Gaal the son of Ebed said,“ Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? Is he not the son of Jerubbaal, and is not Zebul his officer? Serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem; but why should we serve him?If only this people were under my authority! Then I would remove Abimelech.” So he said to Abimelech,“ Increase your army and come out!”

Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”Nicodemus( he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them,“ Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”They answered and said to him,“ Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.”
