藐视自己邻人的，缺乏心智；聪慧的人却保持沉默。

無知者輕視鄰舍，明哲人保持緘默。

藐視鄰舍的，真是無知；聰明人卻緘默不言。

藐視鄰舍的全無心思；明哲的人緘默不言。

藐視自己鄰人的，缺乏心智；聰慧的人卻保持沉默。

蔑鄰者無知、通達者緘口、

愚者暴人之短、智者隱人之惡。

無知者侮慢同人、明哲人緘默不言、

Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense, but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.

Whoever makes fun of their neighbor has no sense. But the one who has understanding controls their tongue.

Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.

It is foolish to belittle one’s neighbor; a sensible person keeps quiet.

Whoever shows contempt for his neighbor lacks sense, but a person with understanding keeps silent.

He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbor, But a man of understanding holds his peace.

He that despiseth his neighbor is void of wisdom; But a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

The one who denounces his neighbor lacks wisdom, but the one who has discernment keeps silent.

One who despises his neighbor is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding holds his peace.

and while being abusively insulted, He did not insult in return; while suffering, He did not threaten, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;

When there are many words, wrongdoing is unavoidable, But one who restrains his lips is wise.

Now He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt:

Be gracious to us, Lord, be gracious to us, For we have had much more than enough of contempt.Our soul has had much more than enough Of the scoffing of those who are at ease, And with the contempt of the proud.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and were ridiculing Him.

Then Zebul said to him,“ Where then is your boasting with which you said,‘ Who is Abimelech that we should serve him?’ Is this not the people whom you rejected? Go out now and fight them!”

But certain useless men said,“ How can this one save us?” And they despised him and did not bring him a gift. But he kept silent about it.

One who despises his neighbor sins, But one who is gracious to the poor is blessed.

And he spoke in the presence of his brothers and the wealthy people of Samaria and said,“ What are these feeble Jews doing? Are they going to restore the temple for themselves? Can they offer sacrifices? Can they finish it in a day? Can they revive the stones from the heaps of rubble, even the burned ones?”Now Tobiah the Ammonite was near him, and he said,“ Even what they are building— if a fox were to jump on it, it would break their stone wall down!”Hear, O our God, how we are an object of contempt! Return their taunting on their own heads, and turn them into plunder in a land of captivity.

But the people were silent and did not answer him with even a word, because it was the king’s command:“ Do not answer him.”

So they went out to the field and gathered the grapes of their vineyards and trampled them, and held a festival; and they went into the house of their god, and ate and drank and cursed Abimelech.Then Gaal the son of Ebed said,“ Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? Is he not the son of Jerubbaal, and is Zebul not his governor? Serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem; but why should we serve him?If only this people were under my authority! Then I would do away with Abimelech.” And he said to Abimelech,“ Enlarge your army and come out!”

Not one of the rulers or Pharisees has believed in Him, has he?But this crowd that does not know the Law is accursed!”Nicodemus( the one who came to Him before, being one of them)* said to them,“ Our Law does not judge the person unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?”They answered and said to him,“ You are not from Galilee as well, are you? Examine the Scriptures, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.”
