Listen, my sons, to the instruction of a father, And pay attention so that you may gain understanding,For I give you good teaching; Do not abandon my instruction.When I was a son to my father, Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother,He taught me and said to me,“ Let your heart take hold of my words; Keep my commandments and live;

My son, if you will receive my words And treasure my commandments within you,

The eye that mocks a father And scorns a mother, The ravens of the valley will pick it out, And the young eagles will eat it.

My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.

My son, do not walk on the way with them. Keep your feet from their path,

The words of King Lemuel, the pronouncement which his mother taught him:

My son, do not forget my teaching, But have your heart comply with my commandments;

If one person sins against another, God will mediate for him; but if a person sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to the voice of their father, for the Lord desired to put them to death.

For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelled in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.

Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep My Sabbaths; I am the Lord your God.

“ If any person has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father or his mother, and when they discipline him, he does not listen to them,then his father and mother shall seize him, and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gateway of his hometown.And they shall say to the elders of his city,‘ This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he does not obey us, he is thoughtless and given to drinking.’Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death; so you shall eliminate the evil from your midst, and all Israel will hear about it and fear.

And they brought to Him a paralyzed man lying on a stretcher. And seeing their faith, Jesus said to the man who was paralyzed,“ Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven.”

But Jesus, turning and seeing her, said,“ Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.” And at once the woman was made well.
