使智者聽了長學問，明哲聽了得指引；

智慧人聽了，可以增長心得；明達人聽了，可以獲得技能，

讓智慧人聽了，就增添學問，讓有悟性的人得到指引，

智者聞之增其學、達者聞之正其趨、

哲者聞此而增其學、明者聞此而益其慧。

哲者聞之、增益學問、明者聞之、開廣智謀、

let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance—

Let wise people listen and add to what they have learned. Let those who understand what is right get guidance.

Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance

A wise person will hear and increase in learning, And a person of understanding will acquire wise counsel,

A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,

The one who loves discipline loves knowledge, but the one who hates reproof is stupid.

Give instruction to a wise person, and he will become wiser still; teach a righteous person and he will add to his learning.

I am speaking to thoughtful people. Consider what I say.

“ If you have understanding, listen to this, hear what I have to say.

Men of understanding say to me– any wise man listening to me says–

“ Therefore, listen to me, you men of understanding. Far be it from God to do wickedness, from the Almighty to do evil.

Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for I am always aware of them.I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your rules.I am more discerning than those older than I, for I observe your precepts.

While he was speaking, Amaziah said to him,“ Did we appoint you to be a royal counselor? Stop prophesying or else you will be killed!” So the prophet stopped, but added,“ I know that the LORD has decided to destroy you, because you have done this thing and refused to listen to my advice.”

Then David said to Abigail,“ Praised be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has sent you this day to meet me!Praised be your good judgment! May you yourself be rewarded for having prevented me this day from shedding blood and taking matters into my own hands!
