Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;

And you believers at Philippi know what happened when I left Macedonia. Not one church helped me in the matter of giving and receiving. You were the only one that did. That was in the early days when you first heard the good news.

And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only.

As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.

And you Philippians know that in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone.

You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the first preaching of the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone;

因為你們從開始直到現在，一直和我同心合意地傳揚福音。

我「搶奪」其他教會，拿了他們的資助，來服侍你們。我在你們那裡經濟拮据的時候，沒有拖累過你們任何人，因為馬其頓來的弟兄姊妹補足了我的缺乏。我沒有在任何方面成為你們的負擔，將來也不會成為你們的負擔。我憑我心中基督的真理說，亞該亞地區無人會阻止我這樣誇口。為什麼呢？難道我不愛你們嗎？上帝知道我愛你們！我現在所做的，將來還會繼續做下去，為了要斷絕那些投機分子的機會，使他們無法吹噓自己的職分與我們一樣。

我成了「傻瓜」是被你們逼的！你們本該稱許我才對。我雖然算不了什麼，卻沒有一點比不上那些「超級使徒」。我在你們中間百般地忍耐，用神蹟、奇事、異能證明自己是使徒。你們什麼地方不及其他教會呢？我唯一「虧待」你們的地方就是沒有成為你們的負擔！希望各位原諒我的不公道！如今我打算第三次到你們那裡。我不會拖累你們的，因為我想得到的是你們，而不是你們的財物。兒女不必為父母積財，父母理當為兒女積財。為了你們的靈魂，我甘願付出，包括自己的生命。難道我越愛你們，就越得不到你們的愛嗎？

二人離開監獄，來到呂底亞家中，見了弟兄姊妹，勸勉一番之後，便離開了那裡。保羅和西拉經過暗非坡里和亞波羅尼亞，到了帖撒羅尼迦。那裡有猶太人的會堂。保羅照以往的習慣進入會堂，一連三個安息日引用聖經與當地人討論，解釋、證明基督必須受害，然後從死裡復活，又說：「我向你們宣講的這位耶穌就是基督。」不少人被說服，成為保羅和西拉的同道，其中有許多是敬畏上帝的希臘人和有地位的婦女。那些不信主的猶太人卻妒火中燒，他們召集了一群市井無賴，在城裡引發騷亂，闖進耶孫的家企圖把保羅和西拉揪出來示眾。

乃縵剛走不遠，上帝僕人以利沙的僕人基哈西心想：「我主人沒有收亞蘭人乃縵帶來的禮物就讓他走了。我憑永活的耶和華起誓，我一定要追上去，向他要點東西。」

以利沙說：「我憑我事奉的永活上帝起誓，我決不接受。」乃縵再三請求，他仍不肯接受。
