Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;

And you believers at Philippi know what happened when I left Macedonia. Not one church helped me in the matter of giving and receiving. You were the only one that did. That was in the early days when you first heard the good news.

And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only.

As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.

And you Philippians know that in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone.

You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the first preaching of the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone;

因为你们从开始直到现在，一直和我同心合意地传扬福音。

我“抢夺”其他教会，拿了他们的资助，来服侍你们。我在你们那里经济拮据的时候，没有拖累过你们任何人，因为马其顿来的弟兄姊妹补足了我的缺乏。我没有在任何方面成为你们的负担，将来也不会成为你们的负担。我凭我心中基督的真理说，亚该亚地区无人会阻止我这样夸口。为什么呢？难道我不爱你们吗？上帝知道我爱你们！我现在所做的，将来还会继续做下去，为了要断绝那些投机分子的机会，使他们无法吹嘘自己的职分与我们一样。

我成了“傻瓜”是被你们逼的！你们本该称许我才对。我虽然算不了什么，却没有一点比不上那些“超级使徒”。我在你们中间百般地忍耐，用神迹、奇事、异能证明自己是使徒。你们什么地方不及其他教会呢？我唯一“亏待”你们的地方就是没有成为你们的负担！希望各位原谅我的不公道！如今我打算第三次到你们那里。我不会拖累你们的，因为我想得到的是你们，而不是你们的财物。儿女不必为父母积财，父母理当为儿女积财。为了你们的灵魂，我甘愿付出，包括自己的生命。难道我越爱你们，就越得不到你们的爱吗？

二人离开监狱，来到吕底亚家中，见了弟兄姊妹，劝勉一番之后，便离开了那里。保罗和西拉经过暗非坡里和亚波罗尼亚，到了帖撒罗尼迦。那里有犹太人的会堂。保罗照以往的习惯进入会堂，一连三个安息日引用圣经与当地人讨论，解释、证明基督必须受害，然后从死里复活，又说：“我向你们宣讲的这位耶稣就是基督。”不少人被说服，成为保罗和西拉的同道，其中有许多是敬畏上帝的希腊人和有地位的妇女。那些不信主的犹太人却妒火中烧，他们召集了一群市井无赖，在城里引发骚乱，闯进耶孙的家企图把保罗和西拉揪出来示众。

乃缦刚走不远，上帝仆人以利沙的仆人基哈西心想：“我主人没有收亚兰人乃缦带来的礼物就让他走了。我凭永活的耶和华起誓，我一定要追上去，向他要点东西。”

以利沙说：“我凭我事奉的永活上帝起誓，我决不接受。”乃缦再三请求，他仍不肯接受。
