耶穌對他說：「手扶着犁向後看的人，不配進神的國。」

所以，既然我們有這許多見證人如同雲彩圍繞着我們，就該卸下各樣重擔和緊緊纏累的罪，以堅忍的心奔那擺在我們前頭的路程，仰望我們信心的創始成終者耶穌，他因那擺在前面的喜樂，輕看羞辱，忍受了十字架的苦難，如今已坐在神寶座的右邊。

這不是說我已經得着了，已經完全了；而是竭力追求，或許可以得着基督耶穌所要我得着的。

你們不知道在運動場上賽跑的，大家都跑，但得獎賞的只有一人？你們也要這樣跑，好使你們得着獎賞。凡參加競賽的，在各方面都要有節制，他們不過是要得會朽壞的冠冕；我們卻是要得不會朽壞的冠冕。所以，我奔跑，不像無目標的；我鬥拳，不像打空氣的。我克制己身，使它完全順服，免得我傳福音給別人，自己反而被淘汰了。

有一件事，我曾求耶和華，我仍要尋求，就是一生一世住在耶和華的殿中，瞻仰他的榮美，在他的殿宇裏求問。

不但如此，我已把萬事當作是有損的，因我以認識我主基督耶穌為至寶。我為他已經丟棄萬事，看作糞土，為要贏得基督，

所以，我們應當離開基督道理的基礎，竭力進到成熟的地步；不必再立根基，就如懊悔致死的行為、信靠神、

我並不是因缺乏而說這話，因為我已經學會無論在甚麼景況都可以知足。我知道怎樣處卑賤，也知道怎樣處豐富；或飽足或飢餓，或有餘或缺乏，任何事情，任何景況，我都得了祕訣。我靠着那加給我力量的，凡事都能做。

我親愛的，這樣看來，你們向來是順服的，不但我在你們那裏，就是我現在不在你們那裏的時候更是順服的，就當恐懼戰兢完成你們自己得救的事；

這又何妨呢？或是假意或是真心，無論如何，只要基督被傳開了，為此我就歡喜。我還要歡喜，因為我知道，這事藉着你們的祈禱和耶穌基督的靈的幫助，終必使我得到釋放。這就是我所切慕、所盼望的：沒有一事能使我羞愧；反倒凡事坦然無懼，無論是生是死，總要讓基督在我身上照常顯大。因為我活着就是基督，死了就有益處。

但是不可少的只有一件。馬利亞已經選擇了那上好的福分，是沒有人能從她奪去的。」

所以，從今以後，我們不再按照人的看法來認識人，縱使我們曾經按照人的看法認識基督，如今卻不再這樣認識他了。

親愛的，有一件事你們不可忘記，就是：主看一日如千年，千年如一日。

女子啊，要傾聽，要思想，要側耳而聽！不要記念你本族和你父家，

但如今，在這一帶再沒有可傳的地方，而且這許多年來，我迫切想去你們那裏，盼望到西班牙去的時候經過，得見你們，先與你們彼此交往，心裏稍得滿足，然後蒙你們為我送行。但如今我要到耶路撒冷去，供應聖徒的需要。因為馬其頓和亞該亞人樂意湊出一些捐款給耶路撒冷聖徒中的窮人。這固然是他們樂意的，其實也算是所欠的債；因為外邦人既然分享了他們靈性上的好處，就當把肉體上的需用供給他們。等我辦完了這事，把這筆捐款交付給他們，我就要路過你們那裏，到西班牙去。我也知道去你們那裏的時候，我將帶着基督豐盛的恩典去。
