耶稣说：“手扶着犁向后看的，不配进神的国。”

我们既有这许多的见证人，如同云彩围着我们，就当放下各样的重担，脱去容易缠累我们的罪，存心忍耐，奔那摆在我们前头的路程，仰望为我们信心创始成终的耶稣。他因那摆在前面的喜乐，就轻看羞辱，忍受了十字架的苦难，便坐在神宝座的右边。

这不是说我已经得着了，已经完全了；我乃是竭力追求，或者可以得着基督耶稣所以得着我的。

岂不知在场上赛跑的都跑，但得奖赏的只有一人？你们也当这样跑，好叫你们得着奖赏。凡较力争胜的，诸事都有节制，他们不过是要得能坏的冠冕；我们却是要得不能坏的冠冕。所以，我奔跑不像无定向的；我斗拳不像打空气的。我是攻克己身，叫身服我，恐怕我传福音给别人，自己反被弃绝了。

有一件事，我曾求耶和华，我仍要寻求：就是一生一世住在耶和华的殿中，瞻仰他的荣美，在他的殿里求问。

不但如此，我也将万事当作有损的，因我以认识我主基督耶稣为至宝。我为他已经丢弃万事，看作粪土，为要得着基督；

所以，我们应当离开基督道理的开端，竭力进到完全的地步，不必再立根基，就如那懊悔死行、信靠神、

我并不是因缺乏说这话；我无论在什么景况都可以知足，这是我已经学会了。我知道怎样处卑贱，也知道怎样处丰富；或饱足，或饥饿；或有余，或缺乏，随事随在，我都得了秘诀。我靠着那加给我力量的，凡事都能作。

这样看来，我亲爱的弟兄，你们既是常顺服的，不但我在你们那里，就是我如今不在你们那里，更是顺服的，就当恐惧战兢做成你们得救的工夫。

这有何妨呢？或是假意，或是真心，无论怎样，基督究竟被传开了。为此，我就欢喜，并且还要欢喜；因为我知道，这事藉着你们的祈祷和耶稣基督之灵的帮助，终必叫我得救。照着我所切慕、所盼望的，没有一事叫我羞愧。只要凡事放胆，无论是生是死，总叫基督在我身上照常显大。因我活着就是基督，我死了就有益处。

但是不可少的只有一件；马利亚已经选择那上好的福分，是不能夺去的。”

所以，我们从今以后，不凭着外貌认人了。虽然凭着外貌认过基督，如今却不再这样认他了。

亲爱的弟兄啊，有一件事你们不可忘记，就是主看一日如千年，千年如一日。

女子啊，你要听，要想，要侧耳而听！不要记念你的民和你的父家，

但如今，在这里再没有可传的地方，而且这好几年，我切心想望到西班牙去的时候，可以到你们那里，盼望从你们那里经过，得见你们，先与你们彼此交往，心里稍微满足，然后蒙你们送行。但现在，我往耶路撒冷去供给圣徒。因为马其顿和亚该亚人乐意凑出捐项给耶路撒冷圣徒中的穷人。这固然是他们乐意的，其实也算是所欠的债；因外邦人既然在他们属灵的好处上有份，就当把养身之物供给他们。等我办完了这事，把这善果向他们交付明白，我就要路过你们那里，往西班牙去。我也晓得，去的时候必带着基督丰盛的恩典而去。
