Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

I have not yet received all these things. I have not yet reached my goal. Christ Jesus took hold of me so that I could reach that goal. So I keep pushing myself forward to reach it.

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.

Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus.

Not that I have already grasped it all or have already become perfect, but I press on if I may also take hold of that for which I was even taken hold of by Christ Jesus.

But you, as a person dedicated to God, keep away from all that. Instead pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, endurance, and gentleness.Compete well for the faith and lay hold of that eternal life you were called for and made your good confession for in the presence of many witnesses.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith excellence, to excellence, knowledge;to knowledge, self- control; to self- control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness;to godliness, brotherly affection; to brotherly affection, unselfish love.For if these things are really yours and are continually increasing, they will keep you from becoming ineffective and unproductive in your pursuit of knowing our Lord Jesus Christ more intimately.

And he must turn away from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and his ears are open to their prayer. But the Lord’s face is against those who do evil.For who is going to harm you if you are devoted to what is good?

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that could defile the body and the spirit, and thus accomplish holiness out of reverence for God.

The LORD avenges me. O LORD, your loyal love endures. Do not abandon those whom you have made!

“ Listen to me, you who pursue godliness, who seek the LORD! Look at the rock from which you were chiseled, at the quarry from which you were dug!

For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished in his sight in love.

So let us acknowledge him! Let us seek to acknowledge the LORD! He will come to our rescue as certainly as the appearance of the dawn, as certainly as the winter rain comes, as certainly as the spring rain that waters the land.”

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the honor both now and on that eternal day.

O God, you are my God! I long for you! My soul thirsts for you, my flesh yearns for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.Yes, in the sanctuary I have seen you, and witnessed your power and splendor.Because experiencing your loyal love is better than life itself, my lips will praise you.

equip you with every good thing to do his will, working in us what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

Nevertheless, let us live up to the standard that we have already attained.

But the path of the righteous is like the bright morning light, growing brighter and brighter until full day.

Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness, for without it no one will see the Lord.

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have attained this. Instead I am single- minded: Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead,with this goal in mind, I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

For we all stumble in many ways. If someone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect individual, able to control the entire body as well.

See that no one pays back evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all.

but when what is perfect comes, the partial will be set aside.

But the righteous man holds to his way, and the one with clean hands grows stronger.

In this way they will save up a treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the future and so lay hold of what is truly life.

I desperately want to be in the courts of the LORD’s temple. My heart and my entire being shout for joy to the living God.

and has a reputation for good works: as one who has raised children, practiced hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, helped those in distress– as one who has exhibited all kinds of good works.

My soul pursues you; your right hand upholds me.

As he was going along, approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”So he said,“ Who are you, Lord?” He replied,“ I am Jesus whom you are persecuting!But stand up and enter the city and you will be told what you must do.”

If only I were predisposed to keep your statutes!

But we ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to each other, so that you cannot do what you want.

For we rejoice whenever we are weak, but you are strong. And we pray for this: that you may become fully qualified.

and congregation of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous, who have been made perfect,

For justice will prevail, and all the morally upright will be vindicated.

For I do not do the good I want, but I do the very evil I do not want!Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer me doing it but sin that lives in me.So, I find the law that when I want to do good, evil is present with me.For I delight in the law of God in my inner being.But I see a different law in my members waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that is in my members.Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

to equip the saints for the work of ministry, that is, to build up the body of Christ,

May your hand help me, for I choose to obey your precepts.I long for your deliverance, O LORD; I find delight in your law.May I live and praise you! May your regulations help me!I have wandered off like a lost sheep. Come looking for your servant, for I do not forget your commands.

And, after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christ will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

As a deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God!

The LORD extends your dominion from Zion. Rule in the midst of your enemies!Your people willingly follow you when you go into battle. On the holy hills at sunrise the dew of your youth belongs to you.
