自卑而順服至死、甚而死於十字架、

其為人也、復謙之又謙、損之又損、惟天主之命是從；鞠躬盡瘁、死而後已、終至致命於十字架上。

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

He appeared as a man. He was humble and obeyed God completely. He did this even though it led to his death. Even worse, he died on a cross!

looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

So too Christ did not glorify Himself in becoming a high priest, but it was He who said to Him,“ You are My Son, Today I have fathered You”;just as He also says in another passage,“ You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”In the days of His humanity, He offered up both prayers and pleas with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His devout behavior.Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.And having been perfected, He became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey Him,

You have not desired sacrifice and meal offering; You have opened my ears; You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.Then I said,“ Behold, I have come; It is written of me in the scroll of the book.I delight to do Your will, my God; Your Law is within my heart.”

And six days later Jesus* took with Him Peter, James, and John, and* brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them;and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them.

Jesus* said to them,“ My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to accomplish His work.

And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light.
