Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,

若爾相吞噬、恐相淪亡、爾其慎之、○

耶穌見所請之人、首位是擇、遂設喻語之曰、爾見請赴婚筵、毋居首位、恐所請有尊於爾者、則請爾與彼之人、前語爾曰、其位讓於斯人、爾必慚而就末位、惟見請時、往居末位、則請爾者來語爾曰、友上坐、則爾於同席者前有榮矣、蓋凡自高者、將卑之、自卑者、將高之也、○

今則宜去一切忿怒、暴戾、狠毒、謗讟、穢言、

蓋爾尚屬形軀、爾中有媢嫉爭鬥、豈非屬形軀、效世人而行乎、

驕泰惟起爭端、受勸乃有智慧、

拜像、巫術、結仇、爭鬥、忌恨、忿怒、釁隙、朋黨、異端、媢嫉、沉湎、荒宴等類、今我告爾、如昔所言、凡行此者、必不承上帝國、

夫宣基督、以媢嫉紛爭者有之、以善意者亦有之、此則出於愛、知我之立、為辯福音也、彼則出於樹黨、非誠也、欲增我縲絏之苦耳、

我恐至時、見爾不副我所望、而爾見我亦不副爾所望、或有爭鬥、媢嫉、忿怒、朋黨、毀謗、隱刺、妄誇、混亂、

爾既霑主之仁澤、去諸惡慝、詭譎、偽善、媢嫉、毀謗、宜如甫生之嬰、戀純而合宜之乳、使爾由之漸長、以至蒙救、

我乃使徒之微者、曾窘逐上帝會、不堪稱為使徒也、

行宜莊正、如於白晝、勿荒宴而沉湎、勿冒色而邪侈、勿爭鬥而媢嫉、
