今急急遣之使還者、欲爾等因重與相見、而獲欣慰、亦所以減我之憂耳。

Therefore I am all the more eager to send him, so that when you see him again you may be glad and I may have less anxiety.

So I want even more to send him to you. Then when you see him again, you will be glad. And I won’t worry so much.

此點吾在前書中亦曾提及、以免吾來之時、應使我歡欣鼓舞者、反貽我以憂戚耳。且吾固深信爾等莫不以吾之樂為樂也。

而最令同人心酸者、厥為「此後不得重見」一語。於是送之登舟。

蓋渠懷爾甚切曩者因爾等聞其嬰疾、渠心中有戚戚焉？然渠之嬰疾、確係事實、且瀕死焉。幸蒙天主垂憐、得告弗藥；此恩此德、不啻予身受之也。不然、予將憂以增憂矣。
