It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.

蓋我尚在此幕之時、勸勉爾、使爾憶此諸事、我以為宜然也、

故爾勿以證天主之道為恥、亦勿以我因主被囚為恥、當賴天主之能、為福音與我共受苦、

凡事包容、凡事存信、凡事冀望、凡事忍耐、

信基督耶穌、受割禮不受割禮皆無益、惟使人行仁愛之信德有益、

我儕為爾眾、恆謝天主、祈禱之時、言念爾曹、在吾父天主前、恆念爾曹、以信而行、以愛而勞者、因望我主耶穌基督而忍耐、天主所愛之兄弟、我知爾為天主所選者、我儕傳福音在爾中、不第以言、乃以能、以聖神、以堅確之信、爾亦知我儕於爾中為爾如何而行、

爾曹皆為光明之人、為白晝之人、我儕不屬於夜、不屬於暗、

我為福音行此、欲與人共得福音之益、○

反當喜樂、因與基督共受苦也、使爾於其榮光顯現之時、亦可歡欣踴躍、

千夫長進前、執保羅、命以二鐵索繫之、問其為何人、行何事、

亦為我儕祈禱、求天主為我儕開傳道之門、使我能宣基督奧妙、我亦為此陷於縲絏、

既笞多杖、遂下諸獄、令獄吏固守之、獄吏受令、下之內獄、以木桎械其足、夜半、保羅、西拉、祈禱歌頌、讚美天主、囚者皆聞之、

我為主被囚者勸爾、既蒙召、行事則當與蒙召之恩相稱、

或受毀謗、遭患難、如在戲場受辱者為眾所觀、或有人受如此之苦、亦與之同苦、蓋我在縲絏之中、爾體恤我、或作蓋人在縲絏爾體恤之人奪爾業、爾忍之而喜、自知在天有愈美恆在之業、
