我为了这福音受委派做传道人、使徒和教师。我因此而遭受这些苦难，但我不以为耻，因为我知道我所信的是谁，也深信祂能保守祂所托付我的，一直到那日。

凡事不可自私自利、爱慕虚荣，要心存谦卑，看别人比自己强。

我对你们众人有这样的感受是很自然的，因为我常把你们放在心上。不论我是身在狱中，还是为福音辩护和作证的时候，你们都与我同蒙恩典。

其实我传福音并没有什么可夸的，因为这是我的任务，我不传福音就有祸了！我若甘心乐意地传福音，就可以得奖赏；我若不甘愿，责任也已经委托给我了。

弟兄姊妹，我希望你们知道，我曾多次计划去你们那里，要在你们中间收获一些福音的果子，像在其他外族人中一样，只是至今仍有拦阻。不论是希腊人、非希腊人、智者、愚人，我对他们都有义务。所以，我也切望能将福音传给你们在罗马的人。我不以福音为耻，因为这福音是上帝的大能，要拯救一切相信的人，先是犹太人，然后是希腊人。这福音显明了上帝的义，这义始于信，终于信，正如圣经上说：“义人必靠信心而活。”

我第一次在法庭申辩的时候，没有人帮助我，众人都离弃了我，但愿他们不会因此而获罪。

“各位父老兄弟，请听我解释！”

亚基帕对保罗说：“准你为自己辩护。”于是保罗伸手示意，然后为自己辩护说：

我的生命如同奉献在祭坛上的酒正倾倒出来，我离世的日子快要到了。那美好的仗，我打过了；当跑的路，我跑完了；所信的道，我持守住了。

你们要立定心志，不要为怎样申辩而忧虑，

这时，非斯都打断保罗的申辩，大声说：“保罗，你疯了！一定是你的学问太大，使你神经错乱了！”

相反，他们都已看到，上帝差遣了我向外族人传福音，就像祂差遣了彼得向犹太人传福音一样。上帝感动了彼得，呼召他做犹太人的使徒，祂也同样感动了我，呼召我做外族人的使徒。
