Acts 11:19-21
Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no one but the Jews only. But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus. And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.

Acts 22:1-30
“ Brethren and fathers, hear my defense before you now.”And when they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, they kept all the more silent. Then he said:“ I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, taught according to the strictness of our fathers’ law, and was zealous toward God as you all are today.I persecuted this Way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women,as also the high priest bears me witness, and all the council of the elders, from whom I also received letters to the brethren, and went to Damascus to bring in chains even those who were there to Jerusalem to be punished.“ Now it happened, as I journeyed and came near Damascus at about noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone around me.And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me,‘ saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’So I answered,‘ Who are You, Lord?’ And He said to me,‘ I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.’“ And those who were with me indeed saw the light and were afraid, but they did not hear the voice of Him who spoke to me.So I said,‘ What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord said to me,‘ Arise and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all things which are appointed for you to do.’And since I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of those who were with me, I came into Damascus.“ Then a certain Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good testimony with all the Jews who dwelt there, came to me; and he stood and said to me,‘ Brother Saul, receive your sight.’ And at that same hour I looked up at him. Then he said,‘ The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just One, and hear the voice of His mouth. For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard. And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’“ Now it happened, when I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, that I was in a tranceand saw Him saying to me,‘ Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, for they will not receive your testimony concerning Me.’So I said,‘ Lord, they know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believe on You.And when the blood of Your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by consenting to his death, and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.’Then He said to me,‘ Depart, for I will send you far from here to the Gentiles.’”And they listened to him until this word, and then they raised their voices and said,“ Away with such a fellow from the earth, for he is not fit to live!”Then, as they cried out and tore off their clothes and threw dust into the air,the commander ordered him to be brought into the barracks, and said that he should be examined under scourging, so that he might know why they shouted so against him.And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said to the centurion who stood by,“ Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and uncondemned?”When the centurion heard that, he went and told the commander, saying,“ Take care what you do, for this man is a Roman.”Then the commander came and said to him,“ Tell me, are you a Roman?” He said,“ Yes.”The commander answered,“ With a large sum I obtained this citizenship.” And Paul said,“ But I was born a citizen.”Then immediately those who were about to examine him withdrew from him; and the commander was also afraid after he found out that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.The next day, because he wanted to know for certain why he was accused by the Jews, he released him from his bonds, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down and set him before them.

Acts 28:1-31
Now when they had escaped, they then found out that the island was called Malta. And the natives showed us unusual kindness; for they kindled a fire and made us all welcome, because of the rain that was falling and because of the cold. But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.So when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another,“ No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet justice does not allow to live.”But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. However, they were expecting that he would swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But after they had looked for a long time and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.In that region there was an estate of the leading citizen of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and entertained us courteously for three days. And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him.So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. They also honored us in many ways; and when we departed, they provided such things as were necessary. After three months we sailed in an Alexandrian ship whose figurehead was the Twin Brothers, which had wintered at the island. And landing at Syracuse, we stayed three days. From there we circled round and reached Rhegium. And after one day the south wind blew; and the next day we came to Puteoli, where we found brethren, and were invited to stay with them seven days. And so we went toward Rome. And from there, when the brethren heard about us, they came to meet us as far as Appii Forum and Three Inns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage. Now when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard; but Paul was permitted to dwell by himself with the soldier who guarded him.And it came to pass after three days that Paul called the leaders of the Jews together. So when they had come together, he said to them:“ Men and brethren, though I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans, who, when they had examined me, wanted to let me go, because there was no cause for putting me to death. But when the Jews spoke against it, I was compelled to appeal to Caesar, not that I had anything of which to accuse my nation. For this reason therefore I have called for you, to see you and speak with you, because for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.”Then they said to him,“ We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor have any of the brethren who came reported or spoken any evil of you.But we desire to hear from you what you think; for concerning this sect, we know that it is spoken against everywhere.”So when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging, to whom he explained and solemnly testified of the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets, from morning till evening. And some were persuaded by the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved. So when they did not agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had said one word:“ The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers, saying,‘ Go to this people and say:“ Hearing you will hear, and shall not understand; And seeing you will see, and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.”’“ Therefore let it be known to you that the salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will hear it!”

Esther 9:1
Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month of Adar, on the thirteenth day, the time came for the king’s command and his decree to be executed. On the day that the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, the opposite occurred, in that the Jews themselves overpowered those who hated them.

Acts 21:28-36
crying out,“ Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, the law, and this place; and furthermore he also brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.”( For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)And all the city was disturbed; and the people ran together, seized Paul, and dragged him out of the temple; and immediately the doors were shut. Now as they were seeking to kill him, news came to the commander of the garrison that all Jerusalem was in an uproar. He immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them. And when they saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. Then the commander came near and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and he asked who he was and what he had done. And some among the multitude cried one thing and some another. So when he could not ascertain the truth because of the tumult, he commanded him to be taken into the barracks. When he reached the stairs, he had to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the mob.For the multitude of the people followed after, crying out,“ Away with him!”
