I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.

我所祈求的就是：你們的愛心隨著屬靈知識的增加和辨別力的提高而日益增長，使你們知道怎樣擇善而從，做誠實無過的人，一直到基督再來的日子，並靠著耶穌基督結滿仁義的果子，使上帝得到榮耀與頌讚。

如果充分具備了這些品德，你們對我們主耶穌基督的認識就不會停滯不前，毫無收穫。

因此，從聽到你們的消息那天起，我們便不斷地為你們禱告，求上帝使你們在一切屬靈的智慧和悟性上完全明白祂的旨意，

你們這些因信而蒙上帝用大能保守的人，必能得到那已經預備好、在末世要顯明的救恩。為此，即使現今你們必須暫時在百般試煉中忍受痛苦，也要滿懷喜樂。這樣，你們的信心經過試驗便顯明是真實的，比那經過火煉仍會壞掉的金子更加寶貴，使你們可以在耶穌基督顯現時得到稱讚、榮耀和尊貴。你們雖然沒有見過基督，卻愛祂；雖然現在看不見祂，卻信祂，並且有無法形容、充滿榮耀的喜樂。

同樣，你們的光也應當照在人面前，好讓他們看見你們的好行為，便讚美你們天上的父。

我的弟兄姊妹，如果有人自稱有信心，卻沒有行為來證實，有什麼用呢？這種信心能夠救他嗎？

你們在異教徒當中要品行端正。這樣，儘管他們毀謗你們是作惡的人，但看見你們的好行為，也會在主來的日子把榮耀歸給上帝。

我們的弟兄姊妹也要學習行善，供應有急需的人，免得毫無貢獻。

心中的秘密也會顯露出來，便會俯伏敬拜上帝，說：「上帝真的在你們當中！」

因此，信心若沒有行為，就是死的。

因為這件善事不單可以幫助經濟困難的聖徒，也使許多人對上帝充滿感恩。通過這件善事，他們會把榮耀歸給上帝，因為看見你們信服基督的福音，慷慨地幫助他們及眾人。他們也會因上帝賜給你們的豐盛恩典而熱切地為你們禱告。

最後，弟兄姊妹，你們要思想一切真實、可敬、公義、純潔、可愛、有好名聲、有美德和值得讚許的事情。

因為上帝並非不公義，以致忘記你們為祂所做的工作以及你們過去和現在服侍聖徒所表現的愛心。

照樣，作妻子的要順服丈夫。這樣，即使丈夫不信從真道，也會因為看見妻子貞潔和敬虔的品行而被無聲地感化。

但態度要溫和恭敬，存無愧的良心。這樣，那些對你們因信基督而有的好品行妄加誣衊的人會自覺羞愧。
