I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.

我所祈求的就是：你们的爱心随着属灵知识的增加和辨别力的提高而日益增长，使你们知道怎样择善而从，做诚实无过的人，一直到基督再来的日子，并靠着耶稣基督结满仁义的果子，使上帝得到荣耀与颂赞。

如果充分具备了这些品德，你们对我们主耶稣基督的认识就不会停滞不前，毫无收获。

因此，从听到你们的消息那天起，我们便不断地为你们祷告，求上帝使你们在一切属灵的智慧和悟性上完全明白祂的旨意，

你们这些因信而蒙上帝用大能保守的人，必能得到那已经预备好、在末世要显明的救恩。为此，即使现今你们必须暂时在百般试炼中忍受痛苦，也要满怀喜乐。这样，你们的信心经过试验便显明是真实的，比那经过火炼仍会坏掉的金子更加宝贵，使你们可以在耶稣基督显现时得到称赞、荣耀和尊贵。你们虽然没有见过基督，却爱祂；虽然现在看不见祂，却信祂，并且有无法形容、充满荣耀的喜乐。

同样，你们的光也应当照在人面前，好让他们看见你们的好行为，便赞美你们天上的父。

我的弟兄姊妹，如果有人自称有信心，却没有行为来证实，有什么用呢？这种信心能够救他吗？

你们在异教徒当中要品行端正。这样，尽管他们毁谤你们是作恶的人，但看见你们的好行为，也会在主来的日子把荣耀归给上帝。

我们的弟兄姊妹也要学习行善，供应有急需的人，免得毫无贡献。

心中的秘密也会显露出来，便会俯伏敬拜上帝，说：“上帝真的在你们当中！”

因此，信心若没有行为，就是死的。

因为这件善事不单可以帮助经济困难的圣徒，也使许多人对上帝充满感恩。通过这件善事，他们会把荣耀归给上帝，因为看见你们信服基督的福音，慷慨地帮助他们及众人。他们也会因上帝赐给你们的丰盛恩典而热切地为你们祷告。

最后，弟兄姊妹，你们要思想一切真实、可敬、公义、纯洁、可爱、有好名声、有美德和值得赞许的事情。

因为上帝并非不公义，以致忘记你们为祂所做的工作以及你们过去和现在服侍圣徒所表现的爱心。

照样，做妻子的要顺服丈夫。这样，即使丈夫不信从真道，也会因为看见妻子贞洁和敬虔的品行而被无声地感化。

但态度要温和恭敬，存无愧的良心。这样，那些对你们因信基督而有的好品行妄加诬蔑的人会自觉羞愧。
