Then those of the Negev will possess the mountain of Esau, And those of the Shephelah the Philistine plain; Also, they will possess the territory of Ephraim and the territory of Samaria, And Benjamin the territory of Gilead.

People from the Negev will occupy the mountains of Esau, and people from the foothills will possess the land of the Philistines. They will occupy the fields of Ephraim and Samaria, and Benjamin will possess Gilead.

Israelites from the Negev Desert will take over Esau’s mountains. Israelites from the western hills will possess the land of the Philistines. They’ll take over the territories of Ephraim and Samaria. Israelites from the tribe of Benjamin will possess the land of Gilead.

Those of the Negeb shall possess Mount Esau, and those of the Shephelah shall possess the land of the Philistines; they shall possess the land of Ephraim and the land of Samaria, and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

“ Then my people living in the Negev will occupy the mountains of Edom. Those living in the foothills of Judah will possess the Philistine plains and take over the fields of Ephraim and Samaria. And the people of Benjamin will occupy the land of Gilead.

People from the Negev will possess the hill country of Esau; those from the Judean foothills will possess the land of the Philistines. They will possess the territories of Ephraim and Samaria, while Benjamin will possess Gilead.

The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the fields of Samaria. Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

And they of the South shall possess the mount of Esau, and they of the lowland the Philistines; and they shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria; and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

People from the Negev will possess the hill country of Esau; those from the Judean foothills will possess the land of the Philistines. They will possess the territories of Ephraim and Samaria, while Benjamin will possess Gilead.

And[ they of] the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and[ they of] the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin[ shall possess] Gilead.

The people of the Negev will take possession of Esau’s mountain, and the people of the Shephelah will take possession of the land of the Philistines. They will also take possession of the territory of Ephraim and the territory of Samaria, and the people of Benjamin will take possession of Gilead.

Those of the South will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead.

For Gaza will be abandoned, And Ashkelon will become a desolation; The inhabitants of Ashdod will be driven out at noon, And Ekron will be uprooted.Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, The nation of the Cherethites! The word of the Lord is against you, Canaan, land of the Philistines; And I will eliminate you So that there will be no inhabitant.So the seacoast will become grazing places, With pastures for shepherds and folds for flocks.And the coast will be For the remnant of the house of Judah, They will drive sheep to pasture on it. In the houses of Ashkelon they will lie down at evening; For the Lord their God will care for them And restore their fortunes.

So that they may possess the remnant of Edom And all the nations who are called by My name,” Declares the Lord who does this.

People will buy fields for money, sign and seal deeds, and call in witnesses in the land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the Negev; for I will restore their fortunes,’ declares the Lord.”

Though Edom says,“ We have been beaten down, but we will return and build up the ruins”; this is what the Lord of armies says:“ They may build, but I will tear down; and people will call them the territory of wickedness, and the people with whom the Lord is indignant forever.”And your eyes will see this, and you will say,“ The Lord be exalted beyond the border of Israel!”

And say to them,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, I am going to take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land;and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king will be king for all of them; and they will no longer be two nations, and no longer be divided into two kingdoms.They will no longer defile themselves with their idols, or with their detestable things, or with any of their offenses; but I will rescue them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. And they will be My people, and I will be their God.“ And My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd; and they will walk in My ordinances, and keep My statutes and follow them.And they will live on the land that I gave to My servant Jacob, in which your fathers lived; and they will live on it, they, and their sons and their sons’ sons, forever; and My servant David will be their leader forever.

And you will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your God.

I will build you again and you will be rebuilt, Virgin of Israel! You will take up your tambourines again, And go out to the dances of the revelers.Again you will plant vineyards On the hills of Samaria; The planters will plant And will enjoy the fruit.For there will be a day when watchmen On the hills of Ephraim call out,‘ Arise, and let’s go up to Zion, To the Lord our God.’ ”

Concerning the sons of Ammon. This is what the Lord says:“ Does Israel have no sons? Or has he no heirs? Why then has Malcam taken possession of Gad, And his people settled in its cities?

also half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were for the sons of Machir the son of Manasseh, for half of the sons of Machir according to their families.

Now the cities of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, Beth hoglah, and Emek keziz,Beth arabah, Zemaraim, and Bethel,Avvim, Parah, and Ophrah,Chephar ammoni, Ophni, and Geba; twelve cities with their villages.Gibeon, Ramah, and Beeroth,Mizpeh, Chephirah, and Mozah,Rekem, Irpeel, and Taralah,Zelah, Haeleph, the Jebusite city( that is, Jerusalem), Gibeah, Kiriath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin according to their families.

therefore this is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, I am going to reach out with My hand against the Philistines and eliminate the Cherethites; and I will destroy the remnant of the seacoast.

Therefore prophesy in regard to the land of Israel and say to the mountains and to the hills, to the ravines and to the valleys,“ This is what the Lord God says:‘ Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and in My wrath because you have endured the insults of the nations.’Therefore the Lord God says this:‘ I have sworn that the nations that are around you will certainly endure their insults themselves.But as for you, mountains of Israel, you will grow your branches and bear fruit for My people Israel; for they are about to come.For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you will be cultivated and sown.And I will multiply people on you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities will be inhabited and the ruins will be rebuilt.I will multiply on you people and animals, and they will increase and be fruitful; and I will populate you as you were previously, and treat you better than at the beginning. Then you will know that I am the Lord.Yes, I will have people— My people Israel— walk on you and possess you, so that you will become their inheritance and never again bereave them of children.’

This is what the Lord God says:“ This shall be the boundary by which you shall divide the land for an inheritance among the twelve tribes of Israel; Joseph shall have two portions.And you shall divide it for an inheritance, each one equally with the other; for I swore to give it to your forefathers, and this land shall fall to you as an inheritance.“ And this shall be the boundary of the land: on the north side, from the Great Sea by the way of Hethlon, to the entrance of Zedad;Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazer hatticon, which is by the border of Hauran.The boundary shall extend from the sea to Hazar enan at the border of Damascus, and on the north toward the north is the border of Hamath. This is the north side.“ The east side, from between Hauran, Damascus, Gilead, and the land of Israel, shall be the Jordan; from the north border to the eastern sea you shall measure. This is the east side.“ The south side toward the south shall extend from Tamar as far as the waters of Meribath kadesh, to the brook of Egypt and to the Great Sea. This is the south side toward the south.“ And the west side shall be the Great Sea, from the south border to a point opposite Lebo hamath. This is the west side.“ So you shall divide this land among yourselves according to the tribes of Israel.

Ekron, with its towns and its villages;from Ekron even to the sea, all that were by the side of Ashdod, with their villages.

So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul, king of Assyria, that is, the spirit of Tilgath pilneser king of Assyria, and he took them into exile, namely the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and to the river of Gozan, where they are to this day.

Then the jealousy of Ephraim will depart, And those who harass Judah will be eliminated; Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, And Judah will not harass Ephraim.They will swoop down on the slopes of the Philistines on the west; Together they will plunder the people of the east; They will possess Edom and Moab, And the sons of Ammon will be subject to them.

“ Now these are the names of the tribes: from the northern extremity, beside the way of Hethlon to Lebo hamath, as far as Hazar enan at the border of Damascus, toward the north beside Hamath, running from east to west, Dan, one portion.Beside the border of Dan, from the east side to the west side, Asher, one portion.Beside the border of Asher, from the east side to the west side, Naphtali, one portion.Beside the border of Naphtali, from the east side to the west side, Manasseh, one portion.Beside the border of Manasseh, from the east side to the west side, Ephraim, one portion.Beside the border of Ephraim, from the east side to the west side, Reuben, one portion.Beside the border of Reuben, from the east side to the west side, Judah, one portion.“ And beside the border of Judah, from the east side to the west side, shall be the allotment which you shall set apart, twenty five thousand cubits in width, and in length like one of the portions, from the east side to the west side; and the sanctuary shall be in the middle of it.The allotment that you shall set apart to the Lord shall be twenty five thousand cubits in length and ten thousand in width.

Then the king sent a response to Rehum the commander, Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their colleagues who live in Samaria and in the rest of the provinces beyond the Euphrates River:“ Peace. And now,

This is what the Lord says:“ For three offenses of the sons of Ammon, and for four, I will not revoke its punishment, Because they ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead In order to enlarge their borders.

And Edom shall be a possession, Seir, its enemies, also will be a possession, While Israel performs valiantly.One from Jacob shall rule, And will eliminate the survivors from the city.”

I will also eliminate every inhabitant from Ashdod, As well as him who holds the scepter, from Ashkelon; And I will direct My power against Ekron, And the remnant of the Philistines will perish,” Says the Lord God.

Ashkelon will see it and be afraid. Gaza too will writhe in great pain; Also Ekron, because her hope has been ruined. Moreover, the king will perish from Gaza, And Ashkelon will not be inhabited.And a people of mixed origins will live in Ashdod, And I will eliminate the pride of the Philistines.And I will remove their blood from their mouth And their detestable things from between their teeth. Then they also will be a remnant for our God, And be like a clan in Judah, And Ekron will be like a Jebusite.

In the lowland: Eshtaol, Zorah, and Ashnah,

Now the cities at the extremity of the tribe of the sons of Judah toward the border of Edom in the south were Kabzeel, Eder, and Jagur,

For God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, So that they may live there and possess it.

And Judah took Gaza with its territory, Ashkelon with its territory, and Ekron with its territory.Now the Lord was with Judah, and they took possession of the hill country; but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had iron chariots.

This is the land that remains: all the regions of the Philistines and all those of the Geshurites;from the Shihor which is east of Egypt, even as far as the border of Ekron to the north( it is counted as Canaanite); the five governors of the Philistines: the Gazite, the Ashdodite, the Ashkelonite, the Gittite, the Ekronite; and the Avvite

Their territory was Jazer and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the sons of Ammon, as far as Aroer which is opposite Rabbah;

they approached Zerubbabel and the heads of fathers’ households, and said to them,“ Let us build with you, for like you, we seek your God; and we have been sacrificing to Him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.”

Then the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim, and settled them in the cities of Samaria in place of the sons of Israel. So they took possession of Samaria and lived in its cities.

And in the days of Artaxerxes, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his colleagues wrote to Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the text of the letter was written in Aramaic and translated from Aramaic.Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to King Artaxerxes, as follows—Rehum the commander, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their colleagues, the judges and the lesser governors, the officials, the secretaries, the men of Erech, the Babylonians, the men of Susa, that is, the Elamites,and the rest of the nations which the great and honorable Osnappar deported and settled in the city of Samaria, and in the rest of the region beyond the Euphrates River. And now

Shepherd Your people with Your scepter, The flock of Your possession Which lives by itself in the woodland, In the midst of a fruitful field. Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead As in the days of old.
