But some of them could not celebrate the Passover on that day because they were ceremonially unclean on account of a dead body. So they came to Moses and Aaron that same day

站在會幕門口對摩西、以利亞撒祭司、眾首領和全體會眾說：

摩西對岳父說：「他們是來求問上帝的，

人若在野外碰過被殺或自然死亡之人的屍體，或碰過死人的骸骨或墳墓，就七天不潔淨。

「碰過屍體的人，七天不潔淨。

「你吩咐以色列人把所有患痲瘋病、漏症和因碰過死屍而不潔淨的人，

你要聽我的勸告，願上帝與你同在。你要做百姓的代表，把案件奏明上帝，

然後由潔淨的人拿牛膝草蘸這水灑在帳篷及裡面所有的人和器具上，也要灑在碰過骸骨、墳墓、被殺者屍體或自然死亡者屍體的人身上。

黎明的時候，眾人從該亞法那裡把耶穌押往總督府，他們自己卻沒有進去，因為怕沾染污穢，不能吃逾越節的晚餐。

他們負責隨時審理百姓的事，遇到難斷的案件就呈到摩西那裡，自己則審理普通的事。

他竟說咒詛的話，褻瀆了上帝的名，他們把他帶到摩西那裡。原來他母親叫示羅密，是但支派示伯利的女兒。

在獻給耶和華期間，不可挨近死屍，即使父母或是兄弟姊妹死了，也不可挨近，以免沾染不潔，因為他頭上有將自己奉獻給上帝的記號。

他不可接近死者，即使是父母也不可，以免玷污自己。

摩西就把她們的請求呈到耶和華面前。

他們就把撿柴的人帶到摩西、亞倫和全體會眾那裡，
