一路上，云彩从圣幕升起，他们就出发。云彩不升起，他们就不出发，一直等到云彩升起。一路上，白天有耶和华的云彩停留在圣幕上面，夜间云中有火光为以色列百姓照明。

耶和华说：“我要教导你，引领你走正路；我要劝导你，看顾你。

我就是门，从我进来的必定得救，并且会安然出入，找到草吃。

看门的会给他开门，羊也听他的声音。他按名字叫自己的羊，把它们领出来。领出来之后，自己便走在前面，羊群也跟着他，因为羊认得他的声音。羊从不跟随陌生人，见了陌生人就逃跑，因为它们不认得陌生人的声音。”

以色列人离开耶和华的山，走了三天的路程，期间耶和华的约柜一直在队伍的前头，为他们寻找安营之地。他们拔营前行的时候，白天总有耶和华的云彩在他们上面。

你以谆谆教诲指引我，以后必接我到荣耀中。

耶和华回答他说：“我必亲自与你同去，使你平安稳妥。”摩西说：“你若不与我们同去，就不要让我们离开这里。

第二年的二月二十日，云彩从安放约柜的圣幕上升起，以色列人就从西奈旷野启行，直到云彩停在巴兰旷野时才停下来。

他们不再饥渴，也不再被热风和烈日灼伤，因为怜悯他们的那位必引导他们，领他们到泉水边。

以色列的牧者啊，你像照顾羊群一样带领约瑟的子孙，求你垂听我们的祈祷。坐在基路伯天使之上的耶和华啊，求你向以法莲、便雅悯和玛拿西发出光辉，求你施展大能来拯救我们。
