To purify them, do this: Sprinkle the water of cleansing on them; then have them shave their whole bodies and wash their clothes. And so they will purify themselves.

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup, so that the outside of it may also become clean.

For the purification of the unclean person, they are to take some of the ashes of the burnt sin offering, put them in a jar, and add fresh water to them.A person who is clean is to take hyssop, dip it in the water, and sprinkle the tent, all the furnishings, and the people who were there. They are physical regulations and only deal with food, drink, and various washings imposed until the time of the new order.

So Jacob said to his family and all who were with him,“ Get rid of the foreign gods that are among you. Purify yourselves and change your clothes.

Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you( not as the removal of dirt from the body, but the pledge of a good conscience toward God) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
